So I was watching Inside the Moto and noticed both RV and the Dunge with nipple tape. Pretty hard to miss. I've been at this a long time and never had problems with, well, that area. Is it because of the longer motos in the nationals? What kind of tape do they use? Will it knock three seconds a lap off of my times if I use it?

Longer motos in the heat and sand with a chest protector on is hard on the nips.

Those thin under protectors. Had one awhile back and it really chafed my nips haha

I have had my jersey rub my nipples raw during hare scrambles (2-3hrs long). I think it results from the jersey rubbing across them so much combined with the dirt acting as sandpaper to exacerbate the issue. Any kind of medical tape is adequate or you can just use electrical tape. That's what I wrap my thumbs with as well.

My question is, what is the black strap they wear under their jerseys that appears to criss cross over their shoulders, around their chest and back, and then go under their arms. What the hell does that thing do?

band aids bros.... they don't stick to the nips... the DO stick the hairs around the nips, should you have any, ouch.

Strap is a heart rate monitor.

Nips usually get chafed in the colder weather when they get hard and rub on the jersey for me.

Strap is to hold neck brace on. They come with the Astars braces and are compatible with the leatte.

For added protection from chafing I recommend factory Scottish nipple shields. They won't make you faster than Dean Wilson, but you will feel like Braveheart on a bike.
