The crash seemed so similar to Peicks accident that I was just praying he didn’t have any serious injuries to his head/brain. It looked like he took a very hard hit to the helmet, thank the Lord he isn’t worse than he is.

Look at the top right of that pic, you can just see Braytons feet as he plays rocketman and blasts off out of the picture. Damn im pulling for both those dudes.

I wonder if a full coverage chest and back protector would have lessened his injuries? I think it would but these guys are more concerned with looks than protection.

I had a simular wreck when i broke my scapula going over a jump and guy whiskey throttled behind me and let go of his bike hitting me in the back . I had a full chest protector on . 2 years ago i switched to the leatt chest protector that wraps around the sides . I went down wearing that and broke 3 ribs . There is no give when you bend sideways and it pushed into my ribs . You just never know how things are going to play out in a wreck .

More to with comfort and freedom of movement than looks I would say.

If Reed thinks he can still do it then I believe him. Glad it wasn’t super serious, as moto injuries go anyway. Looking forward to another run!

110% he will be back.

Freak accidents where you're not sure what went wrong, causing injuries like that, really scare you. (Chadapault for example).

But seeing exactly how it happened and why, and realising it was just an unfortunate series of events, leaves you frustrated, not scared. (At least that's how I look at crashes from my experiences.) Chad lost traction and got a bit loose and cased the next jump heavily before it all went sideways. If he had have done that on just about any other lap, where there wasn't bikes everywhere, besides obviously losing time, he would have been completely fine.

I believe that is/will be the key difference here and why we will see him lining up next season. The question for me now is after this incident, is 2020 still a farewell tour, or 2019 take 2?

If he took a hard hit to the head or an ACL or femur I’d think maybe he’s done, but he will totally forget about these injuries by August and be lining up his deal for his last season.

Heal up soon Chad. I doubt Ellie is onboard with you racing again.
You doubt she is on board? Lol....

One of her instagram stories gave me the impression that she was hinting he would retire. But then she goes and posts this....

So she's definitely on board. Amazingly. As is the stat that Chad Reed had more consecutive races than everyone else and by a considerable amount too.

Man... as a young Aussie fan who has been following him since he was racing Suzuki’s in Australia. This honestly brakes me.
He’s had many injury’s in the past and crashes that have cost him a championship. But this hurts as a fan as that crash.... could be the very last time we seen reed line up in supercross.

I don’t know how I would feel seeing A1 in 2020 and not see the number 22 on the gates, or not hearing the crowed cheer for reed.

I'm really glad that nobody was hurt a lot worse in that mess. I keep
watching the video and I can't for the life of me understand why Brayton shot into orbit like he did?

edit:
now I see it, he was sent into space by the rear end of Breece's bike... wow!

I doubt this was the way Reedy wants to end his career. If JGR offers him a 2020 ride I honestly think he'll take it

I hate the announcing so damn much. They just absolutely had to stay on reed when we can clearly see Brayton get launched to another planet and not one damn word about it. Hope both of them are okay. They are the oldest dudes out there
Reed gets landed on, and we’re pissed off because a rider launched into the air doesn’t get the same live press...interesting what people give a shit...

Thoughts go out to the Reed family for sure. I now his pain. Someone cross jumped in front of me sending me hard to the ground. Collapsed lunge, two broken ribs and multiple fractures in my back. When they jam a rod threw your side to re-inflate your lunge it is the worst pain i have ever felt. Once its done though you can breathe some what. What i remember is the nurses coming in and popping the air bubbles in my chest... Lol Was like rice crispies popping...

I was put under for the install. I was wide awake when they took out my chest tube though. The worst part was taking off the tape that was stuck to my side for a week. It literally removed a layer of skin with it.
Wide awake for both!!! Install was crazy painful... I am sure Chad Reed did not even flinch... I was screaming with what little air i had in my other lunge. At one point the tube inside me felt like it was glowing red hot and burning me from the inside out. They said it was just the nerved that were aggravated. These guys like Chad are bad asses for sure to keep going threw this stuff. Bet we have not seen the last of him. To much Pride in him to quit...
