I can guarantee you they at least bought an Alta and looked it over very closely.

I can guarantee you every manufacturer has had a real good look at one. The technology is not that advanced.
Pit Row
He said it (the tech) would be used in Dirt Bikes well before Road (other than City / Commuter bikes). And, he suggested it was only about 2 years away - the interview was in a mid last year issue of Performance Bikes, if I recall correctly.
Losing the Rad Shrouds? Highly doubtful, as E Batteries / Motors still generate a lot of heat, and, from what I gather, heat in the battery (or, something else?), was one of the few real issues with the Altas - when it came to quick / repeated charges. The Altas' 'radiator' was in section(s) of the frame structure, wasn't it?
An E Bike - and not a glorified MTB - a real, full sized (and something more than the KTM E Freeride) one, would be perfect for 90% of my riding. And, one (well, a few) made by an established company / companies, is what is needed. It's a damned shame what happened with Alta. I'd been putting away some shekels into my 'magic drawer', for an Alta. That will go to my Indo and HK / Shanghai MXGP trips, this year. Then, back to filling it for, perhaps, an 'E' CR.
That thing is tits though!
