I was going to post a "spoke with my wallet" thread but this one is what got me interested in a 125. I rode one in a few races last year to test the waters. I never had so much fun in my life and here we are with a new Yz125. I thought about KTM/Husky but my Yamaha dealer is a friend and an all around good dude. I have never looked forward to a race season as much as I"m looking forward to this one. So thanks to Jeffro and all the other vets with 125s that got me off my ass to try a tiddler.

Bonus points to anyone who can name every rider on my Yamaha wall of fame.
I love my 19 TC125, but these damn YZs sure are mighty fine machines. Welcome to the madness!

Just turned 50. Have an 08 Husky Cr125 just freshened. A new 05 KX125 I am saving for later. If I see another good 125 for sale local am always open to another. Like the small bore bikes more than the 250s or 500s I have.

I sat on a TC 125 today, 2019, just couldnt get the bad experience I had with a 16 KTM SX150. Was a damn gorgeous bike though.

Yeah, I hear ya. All I can say is that it is really good. Plenty of 125 options out there though.

Honest question here

Am I considered an old guy on a 125 when I’m 30?

Last two years on a 250sx and still very competitive locally in the A class, so much so that I think I rode 2-3 times in +25- as it kinda felt like I was punching down. Part of my logic for 2019 and getting a small bore was to make +25 and +30 a little more fair for the vet B type guys on 450’s when I’m on a large supermini lololol.

I know the AER48 are totally different and the bike has addressed carb issues, etc. All of which sucked on my 16, just hard to drop the cash coming from Yamaha / Honda, but wanting a 125 I think more than a 250F right now in my life. Just want light and fun.

I remember your post from the other day, you pulled it. But it all leads me to think a 125 is the answer... not another 250f. Definitely not a KTM salesman here, but they are good bike. Stock, my 19 was excellent, I have since spent some cash on mods. Could always look past the usual 125s and go TM, Sherco or Beta. The Sherco and Beta are very good mix bikes also.

Thanks man. Ya I figured the responses wouldnt be so productive, lol. AZ is terrible for the used market, can't find a decent 125 to save my life and have a hard time justifying buying a new YZ 125. How was it out of the box? I'll admit it has so many nice upgrades and is super light. Thanks for the 2 cents.

Out of the box was really good, I could have easily raced it bone stock and not feel cheated.

Thanks bud. May go this way, with such a small price difference between the TC and the YZ.

Thank you and nice work on the wall! Only Roncada is incorrect. The last guy is the one and only Southwick winner from Idaho, Danny Smith. And to keep this thread on track I've got my clutch perch and radiator braces installed. I also went up on the shock rate and greased the linkage. This bullshit snow needs to go away so I can break it in.

Okay lining up this Sat for the first time in 15 years or so.
Been riding on my own track the past couple years and it's time to get a couple races in and see where i stand.
Riding the OTMX at ACP in Phx probably go novice since i haven't been in competition for a long time.
Did very well in the 40+ intermediate 20 years ago on a YZ 167 big bore.

Should be fun no matter the finish position.
The 99 167
The 14 125

After a nasty get off on the 450 a little over a year ago after 28 years of riding. I’ll be getting back out this Thursday on a 125 for the first time since my accident. Time to go about this MX stuff a different way at 50 y/o if I want to keep on. Braap brapp!!! Putt putt!!!

Currently rebuilding a bike from my youth. All stock sans a 2001 cr250 front end. Really looking forward to ripping this thing.

I'm nearly a Vet (38 years old) sold my 450sx 2 years ago as I didn't ride enough and the thing pretty much ripped my arms off when the dreaded arm pump set in, I used to dread racing the thing at times

So found a cheap RM125 (what I started on ) and spent a year rebuilding it from the frame up which was brilliant fun and bought back loads of memory's, took it out on track last season and I had the biggest grin on my face and fell back in love with mx again, it took a few sessions to click back in to riding a 125 but love riding the thing and cant wait for the 2019 season to start in the UK

I want to get a 150 to go alongside it soon as the 2 stroke bug is back with a bang!

Just got my Tom Morgan cylinder and head back today, can't wait to put it on and shred this 125. Too bad this "bomb cyclone" winter storm ruined opening weekend.

I did this a few years back and regretted it, really weird riding these 2 bikes back to back on the same day. Glad you have a kool 125 though, enjoy!

Yes give it some time when you get back on a smoker, took me 2 x sessions to get back in the swing of things

I'm 57 and am riding an '04 KX 125 that I inherited from my 15 year old (who's now on a '19 KTM 150 SX). Couple month ago I got a NOS '18 KTM 150 XC-W for off-road stuff. I like small bikes because I'm 155 lbs, I like the light weight, I like the power, I love the turning, and I feel like I"m going super fast when I'm not. They're just fun and I ride for fun.

I took my YZ125 out on Saturday and don't regret for a second trading in my KX450 for it. So much fun, easy to manage, no arm pump, and I don't feel like it is trying to murder me. Another tip of the hat to Jeffro for this thread.
