Obvious to some but the reason reeds finishes look so bad is almost another 10 years past his absolute prime. If he called it quits in like 2010 it would be alot more on the first half of the graph.

I love that hes still out there and im absolutely still rooting for.

Yeah, he was still on the podium more often than not in 2011 and 2012. So here is what his chart looks like if he retired after the 2012 season. (He has won 3 event since 2012.)

FWIW, that's not combined. That's 450 (and 250) only.

Eli moves up to 17th if you include 250/125:

1 Chad Reed 4530
2 Jeremy McGrath 4102
3 Kevin Windham 3811
4 Mike LaRocco 3744
5 Ryan Dungey 3213
6 James Stewart 2731
7 Ricky Carmichael 2691
8 Larry Ward 2663
9 Andrew Short 2531
10 Davi Millsaps 2471
11 Tim Ferry 2469
12 Nicholas Wey 2442
13 Ryan Villopoto 2395
14 Ezra Lusk 2386
15 David Vuillemin 2301
16 Justin Brayton 2237
17 Eli Tomac 2160
18 Damon Huffman 2103
19 Jeff Emig 2003
20 Nathan Ramsey 1885

Unbelievable. 148 races in his first 10 seasons 119 podiums (80%). In those 10 seasons he had the likes of Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey etc. aswell.

Im glad he has kept racing even if hes destroying those percentages though. Wish more guys were willing to hang around for the joy of competing even if they might not be as successful.

Reed's stats are nuts! I have never understood why people are so quick to discount him. I'm 30 and I have to go back pretty far to remember a time without Chad Reed lol and the guy is currently in the top 10 points wise.

Yes. Pending the completion of the 2019 season, they’ll be about equal.

No I meant Villo didn't really race much of 09. Wasn't he injured and sick for a lot of it?

I was able to do it.

Carmichael DIDN'T win 67 250/450 Supercross races. Those 67 races were won by:

McGrath 18
Stewart 16
Reed 15
Vuillemin 7
Lusk 5
Windham 4
LaRocco 1
Ramsey 1

Here is how many times each rider finished ahead of Carmichael (in any position):
McGrath 28
LaRocco 25
Reed 20
Vuillemin 20
Stewart 18
Windham 18
Lusk 14
Huffman 11
Ferry 10
Pichon 10
Tortelli 10
Larry Ward 10

39 other riders finished ahead of Carmichael at least once.

Nice job putting that together!

Do these stats include the 2004 season when Ricky sat out SX? Asking because I noticed Mike LaRocco having a win and the only one of his I remember in the RC era was Indy in 2004.

RV missed a bit of ‘09 and ‘10, ET missed about half of ‘14.

It only counts races that Carmichael was in, but didn't win.

The LaRocco win was Anaheim 2 in 2002.

Thanks. I am also a stats geek (obviously).

I hope I don't regret this. But I've been building a motocross database for awhile. My data is not yet complete, and the website is still a work in progress. But you can research stuff here: www.motoxdata.com

The Supercross data is pretty clean back to 1990. The Motocross data is very clean back to 1998. Anything earlier than that will be spotty.
