A few off the top of my head. (Not all still open)

Just makes me laugh when people act like the pnw is nothing but woods and hard pack. Yeah most the”good” tracks are on the west side and a lot have hard dirt but there’s so much more the NW has to offer than just a bunch of hard pack and trees if you don’t mind a trip over the mountains

Yeah all the main tracks are hard, most of those you mentioned aren’t around or even real tracks. I do really miss juniper dunes that place is so fun for free riding.

Texas has its share of great tracks, but if you want to ride some off road to mix things up - you are shit out of luck! Although I was spoiled growing up in Oregon and having thousands of miles of groomed trails all over the place...…

Florida has a ton of great tracks and a variey of terrain but the race scene for regional/local is nearly non existant. If yoh move there you will become a pro-practicer.

That's what happened in Arizona... I am old now, but in the 80's, every Sunday we would have a choice of at least 10 tracks within a few hours to go race at. From Bullhead City, I could hit 6 in Southern California, 4 in Arizona and 2 in Nevada every weekend.

It's just not like that anymore. I have a grandson that seems to be interested in moto... I might have to move him somewhere that has a more regular race schedule.

Underground, Village Creek, Johnsonville, ADVMX, Rio Bravo, Three Palms, Oak Hill, Freestone, Swan, Bowers, Buffalo Creek, Cycle Ranch, His956, River Valley, just to name a few of the bangers. We have a few great places to ride in Oklahoma but everyone here will tell you that Texas is the place to be if you want a lot of great places to ride.

If you're in Oklahoma (preferably in the spring or fall if you're not used to the heat), you have to check out OMC on a Thursday night or make your way out to Sweet 16, Reynards, or Elk City.

Get a kick out of folks on here that say their state is the best when thats the only state they have ridden in or raced. Wouldn't you think that question could only be answered from folks that have ridden in every state?

Hard question to answer from a hand full of people that can truly answer it. I've only raced in about twelve different states and Prefere Michigan, Ohio and Penn area.

Define "weight" for me. If you're talking about a track where pro nationals were held Freestone is still open and running. If you're talking about amateur national tracks Oak Hill still runs one. If we're talking about just a quality facility that isn't just a few turns and tabletops in an open field DFW alone has a ton. I could name half a dozen AMA sanctioned facilities that hold qualifiers and such. And we can ride them year round (if you don't wilt in the heat). I'm not saying Michigan isn't great or maybe even the best, I'm saying Texas is definitely up there.

While I agree that Michigan has alot of great tracks that are open to public and lots of trails to ride,the D14 mx race scene in the last 10 years is only a shadow of what it once was.

I agree. I live in north Texas and can pick from about a dozen tracks to ride within 3 hours of me. I prefer going east. It’s hard to beat swan Johnsonville and SCMX.

There’s a reason Georgia keeps getting mentioned. When I moved away 12 years ago there were many, many options within 90 minute drive or less of our north Atlanta home. Trails and tracks.

I would think that if you are moving to the best state besides CA for moto it has to be one you are riding moto all year.

And I’m not sure why people say Florida? Unless you are riding private tracks, because there isn’t a lot more. I guess if you have Tim ferry’s number or something it would be cool.

Houston Texas, preferably on the West Side so you have all the Houston, Austin, San Antonio and all in between a few hour drive at most. Plus if you want to drive a little more, all of the North Texas tracks. No month is too hot to ride if you go in the morning.

Notable tracks? Rio Bravo, Swan, 3 Palms, Cycle Ranch.

I would pay $250 to ride Whitney again or the old Austin Day track..

My son and I ride year around, in the summer we get to the tracks at 8 or 9 and try to be done by 1. But on race days were there regardless lots of water and a big fan. We would rather ride at 100 degrees then 35 but that’s just us. 2 years ago we road tripped to Minnesota in July and did some riding, it was 95 plus each day we were there and felt just like Texas lol.

I can tell you it's definitely not Connecticut. Our only practice track was Rocky Hill, and it shut down 2 yrs ago. The only race track is Central Village and the state owns 90% of the forest. To even want to ride/race anymore you've got to be real hardcore.

Have you ever lived in FL? The worst part is trying to decide which of the many pay tracks you want yo ride that day! Arguements start over where to go. I lived there from 1996 to 2004 and it seemed like an MX mecca.

I Have seen Alabama mentioned a few times which is somewhere i had never though of and plan to look into a little more anybody have pics of from your local tracks ? What are the best tracks there?
Is the turnouts doing good?
Its interesting that some area's are thriving while others are way down, makes me think its got a lot to do with how things are run, and not so much the economy.
And in reading several threads lately it seems like off road hare scrambles and J day type races are thriving
And MX in most area's not so much ,
I would hope some track owners are paying attention, i think
It has a lot to do with people not wanting to jump as big of jumps and wanting just more natural obstacles that arent as dangerous.
