This delivers.
Poor fella, had he just left it be it woulda been forgot about by now, but by posting what he did he gave it a whole new life. Pritty sure that was the exact opposite of what he was trying to do.

ya dude this is brutal for the kid, he’s got his dad in here defending him against an angry mob of who’s and keyboard warriors that don’t care about what they post. I’m about the pull the guyb card here and see to it some don’t come back. That’s guyb decision and he’s pretty good at keeping this place somewhat contained but shit like this gets under my nerves. These little kids with a keyboard resorting into calling me names when I’m just trying to add to the facts of what did happen and these guys just looking for drama. That’s vital I guess but really to many people look at this stuff for it to go written the wrong way to long especially when it’s against a young racer who didn’t do anything wrong! I really don’t even know the kid but I know he lost time and positions in his mistake to only be came at with an angry kid with no real proof of the situation.
Jeff, once again, you make a strong case that homeschooling does a disservice to kids. I get your intent here and even agree in part. A community college writing course would help you a lot with improving communication skills.

This whole thread is terrible, of course, but the real issue is when banter on a forum starts to affect people's real lives. Brian alluded to this in that he became aware of the thread through other people telling him about it, so it's entirely plausible that Mitchell's sponsors and other industry folk may have seen it and drawn negative inference from it. Stating in a forum that someone cheated in a professional race when they didn't is defamatory, libelous to be precise, and, when people's careers are based in large part on their marketability and the industry's perception of their character, to defame them in this way can become a big issue, quickly. Man, I really sound like the grown-up here (unintended!)

Anyhow, this is why Brian, quite rightfully, stepped in and how it's not fair to talk crap on message boards when to do so can have serious implications in the real world. Also, balancing First Amendment rights with the effects statements on the forum can have is the fine line that GuyB treads in policing this mad house (rather him than me!).

Cheers
Simon Cragg, Esq., Esq.

Obviously it should have been addressed in a better way (I don't even know what happened) but if a fake or real lawyer comes in here claiming it's defamatory and / or libelous, well with all due respect to your opinion but legally it is complete hogwash. Calling the ref in the Rams vs Saints game a blind as a bat on the take cheating motherfucker for not calling obvious pass interference is not libelous or defamatory, it's an opinion. There is absolutely no legal ground to stand on. Some clown throwing such nonsense acting like they have some sort of leverage or authority by putting esquire at the end of their name deserves all the blowback that they get. The industry is so insular they think the real world operates like they do and will get scared or intimidated by big words and lame threats. Hopefully Mitchell doesn't have to reap too much of what the fake lawyer speaking on his behalf sowed.
Mitchell really should show us all his sense of humor and run 'Esquire' as a buttpatch this weekend.

It's the throwing around of toothless legal threats to a bunch of anonymous randos on a fan forum that's the embarrassing weak-sauce move.
Who gives a shit though? Guess I have better stuff to cry about today. This thread being started is a good example of how stupid people here can be. OP literally trying to contact someone to get Harrison in trouble for something he didn't even do. I remember when the forum wasn't a bunch of drama queens.

For those that lurk into the forums and can't quite comprehend, the thread turned after the facts were presented. Some people cough cough don't understand This more than likely would have died if not for the legal threats. For you people slowly coming in and jumping to Mitchel's rescue...don't, you've missed the point and you will be subjugated to further public embarrassment. You've been warned

If you haven't noticed, most are laughing our asses off (or at least popping up some fresh popcorn), not crying.

If he does, I can recommend a good lawyer for you.

Sincerely,
MXD, Esq.

Just to be clear, if Mitchell's dad came on here and stuck up for his kid, I think we would all respect and understand that. But the legal threats turned it into clown shoes. That's what we are all making light of.

Yeah, I understand. It's not that difficult. Just think it's hilarious how the sheep need to take easy shots at a guy sticking up for his kid. It was a stupid post, but pretty much the norm around here most days.

I for one like Mitchel even more now because of this thread.

I also think it's entirely possible that Mr. Harrison, Esq knows damn well he has no legal case against Vital or anyone else, except maybe the op who started all this, but hell I really am no lawyer. He probably knew that by overinflating his legal jargon he would accomplish exactly what he wanted. OP edited the thread title and the dude that made the video took it down. The rest is just unintended future Vital folklore.

P.S. Me writing out an intelligently crafted, well thought out legal cease and desist statement under a fake account? That's unpossible!

So, we're not allowed to mock moto dads acting like moto dads? I thought moto dads were the root of all evil. And Mitchell isn't a little kid anymore, he's a pro, his parents don't need to be running around wiping his nose. yeah, I'm just here to mock the legal threats. Justin Starling laid all the other BS to rest.

It's the new Vital, Rhody. It's kinder and gentler. You also have to keep in mind that people often disagree over humor. Some people don't think it's funny to make fun of a moto dad coming in here and threatening to sue everyone. Personally, I think it is hilarious, and the old Vital would still be slamming the guy from one end of the board to the other. Then you have the crowd that is gonna take up for him because his son is a pro and they think that maybe someday they can be best buds with the family for taking up for Mitchell on a message board.

I never saw the original form of the thread. It had been altered before I saw it. It was in poor taste to come in here and accuse Mitchell of cheating. On the other hand, I really didn't care one way or another what happened and that is why I never looked at the thread until it was brought to my attention Mr. Harrison was in here threatening legal action.

And another day at Vital ticks away...ho-hum.

Seriously, in a thread about cheating/not cheating, sticking up for sons, and hollow legal threats, how in the hell has nobody run with Jeff’s “I’ve seen dads do much worse.”

For the record, I like the Alessi’s, but can appreciate/laugh at all the crazy stuff that they did over the years....even if they can’t.

I’m glad I never entered into discussion on this thread early on. I almost did, the the lack of video footage showing what happened before he re entered the track left me needing more info to even leave a comment.
This particular thread is very reminiscent of a Facebook CNN story in the comments section. Wow!
