My dudes, when I read this thread I opened it as a person who really likes watching Mitchell race, as a racer I had the chance to race a very epic race with him his last year as an amateur and gained a lot of respect, everything in those first few posts and that video made me question everything I thought of the kid I always watch at the races to see do good, that’s how video can work and make good hard working kids look bad. His dad knowing that as an adult with experience with life and these matters that can hurt a kids career from something with no proof and a ‘burn him at the stake’ attitude from post 1 can really hurt a career his dad and his family and supporters worked probably 15 years to build, how are you guys going to not take emotion into account. I’ve seen fathers go much further, and this whole thread could have been presented in a much more civilized manner. Your not the people that have put the effort into this kids career and the quality of opportunity his people put into his program, so don’t be the ones to tear it down. The kid didn’t cut the track, y’all just assumed he did from a video that showed nothing of the incident. Case closed it’s time to move on and stop trying to make a good hardworking kid who doesn’t bash any of his teams look bad. Y’all gotta quit your shit.

Jeff you said it yourself, you saw the first couple posts and assumed Mitchell had cut the track. Justin came in and set it straight, Mr.Esquire didnt need to comment or allude to litigation. He could've messaged the mods and asked them to delete this thread or get the title changed (and it has been changed) or simply let it be.

ya dude this is brutal for the kid, he’s got his dad in here defending him against an angry mob of who’s and keyboard warriors that don’t care about what they post. I’m about the pull the guyb card here and see to it some don’t come back. That’s guyb decision and he’s pretty good at keeping this place somewhat contained but shit like this gets under my nerves. These little kids with a keyboard resorting into calling me names when I’m just trying to add to the facts of what did happen and these guys just looking for drama. That’s vital I guess but really to many people look at this stuff for it to go written the wrong way to long especially when it’s against a young racer who didn’t do anything wrong! I really don’t even know the kid but I know he lost time and positions in his mistake to only be came at with an angry kid with no real proof of the situation.
Tom Brady had people help him come up as well. Millions of people say he sucks, he cheats, etc. Professionals in the limelight, deal with it and be professional.

I couldn't read through this entire shit ball thread. All I know is Mitchell is a stand up kid and aint a freakin' cheater , and from what Justin said , it seems to hold true. All the other bullshit attached to this thread? I don't know.........but it sure seems like guys on here love to throw people under the bus , before anyone get's the full story. I personally stayed out of here until I found out what happened. Not slamming anyone in particular here , but maybe find out the facts first , before you throw some kid under the bus.

"Is Bugs Bunny, Esq. in Trouble?
When I was 10 I used to like signing my name, "David Feldman, Esquire." Not because I thought I wanted to be a lawyer, I wasn't even sure what "Esq." meant. I did it because that's how cartoon hero Bugs Bunny signed his name.

Well, old Bugs better be careful when he's in California (he was seen recently at Six Flags Magic Mountain). It turns out a California lawyer whose license had been suspended continued to use the moniker in correspondence and court filings when he was representing himself. He also did other things implying he was a lawyer, like his email had the word "law" in it and, oh yeah, he had letterhead that said "Law Offices of..."

His defense in using "Esquire" was, among other things, that people who read the magazine Esquire call themselves that, according to the ABA Journal News Weekly. No one ever said lawyers are not creative.

So of course the California bar examiners recommended disbarring him (he had several other bad ethical instances as well). Timely as I am now in Los Angeles visiting our firm's headquarters and clients"

Did you hear the one about the lawyer who.....

Standing up for his son is fine and admirable.

It's the throwing around of toothless legal threats to a bunch of anonymous randos on a fan forum that's the embarrassing weak-sauce move.

Rough year for Mitchell.

Loses factory ride, goes to new private team.

Bike grenades multiple times, bike finally stays running and he makes the main.

He grenades himself through the whoops, but gets going again without too much damage.

Video posted on vital of him "cheating", vital throws a grenade on him.

Justin Starling clears Mitchell's name, and proves he did not cheat. All is well.

Mitchell's Dad comes to Vital, and throws another grenade into the Vital drama brigade.

And the rough year continues....

I don’t think anybody thinks less or Mitchell Harrison. Everyone’s just happy to be able to use another catchy phrase in future threads like “torque Your sprocket bolts”. These threads are what spur the laughter 5 years from now in another ridiculous post.

Where the hell is peely?

This whole thread is terrible, of course, but the real issue is when banter on a forum starts to affect people's real lives. Brian alluded to this in that he became aware of the thread through other people telling him about it, so it's entirely plausible that Mitchell's sponsors and other industry folk may have seen it and drawn negative inference from it. Stating in a forum that someone cheated in a professional race when they didn't is defamatory, libelous to be precise, and, when people's careers are based in large part on their marketability and the industry's perception of their character, to defame them in this way can become a big issue, quickly. Man, I really sound like the grown-up here (unintended!)

Anyhow, this is why Brian, quite rightfully, stepped in and how it's not fair to talk crap on message boards when to do so can have serious implications in the real world. Also, balancing First Amendment rights with the effects statements on the forum can have is the fine line that GuyB treads in policing this mad house (rather him than me!).

Cheers

Obviously it should have been addressed in a better way (I don't even know what happened) but if a fake or real lawyer comes in here claiming it's defamatory and / or libelous, well with all due respect to your opinion but legally it is complete hogwash. Calling the ref in the Rams vs Saints game a blind as a bat on the take cheating motherfucker for not calling obvious pass interference is not libelous or defamatory, it's an opinion. There is absolutely no legal ground to stand on. Some clown throwing such nonsense acting like they have some sort of leverage or authority by putting esquire at the end of their name deserves all the blowback that they get. The industry is so insular they think the real world operates like they do and will get scared or intimidated by big words and lame threats. Hopefully Mitchell doesn't have to reap too much of what the fake lawyer speaking on his behalf sowed.
