I dont understand this how cold he of kept going once needing assistance?
Another competitor would of helped him out whether it was a car and buggy and dragged his bike out. Yeah his race is destroyed but the support he could of provided his team mates is invaulable.

About Barreda...most of you aren't familiar with Perús coastal micro climate and its normal. The thing is there are lots of fog, Lima "la gris" is covered in fog most of the year. You have seen pictures of sunny Lima? Yeah they are taken in the few hours of the few days the sun actually does show up, but even then there's somewat of a mist, you harldly see the horizon ever.

The first time I went to southern lima, the combination of moon like terrain and fog really made me feel like at the end of the world. Have you seen the images? They were riding without goggles! It must have been hell out there.

Seems to be friends with the big names in desert racing. Did fairly well in the Sonora Rally and has done Baja as well

Yeah that’s him, I think he has a construction company of some sort and helps Skyler Howes race Baja and this event. Him and Skyler qualified through the Baja rally on 450x’s and then bought their way onto a ktm support team. Skyler was 17th yesterday so he’s killing it for his first time there!

Update: Howes Skyler doing? 24th after today now. 5 minutes off Laia Sanz, his goal is to stay close to her

I believe he is sponsoring Skyler Howe to do Dakar as well. From what I've gathered through Social Media he owns a Construction Company?

Rivera wanted to denounce through a video posted on social networks the supposed "traps" that several participants made when completing the route marked by the roadbook, a guide prepared by the organization that pilots receive the day before each stage so that they can review the indications and personalize them with colors to differentiate all the information that appears on the roadmap.

According to the regulations of the Dakar, pilots can not add more notes to the roadbook than those marked by the organization, either in its first version -produced months in advance- or with the last-minute additions that the ASO commissioners they point during the 'opening' tour that they realize hours before the beginning of the stage to detect possible last minute changes in the route.

Rivera denounces that few pilots are governed by the indications of the roadbook, while most take advantage of the advice given by their personal 'map men' (map specialists) to alter the route and look for shortcuts that sometimes , they even appear marked in the roadbook against the regulation.

"I'm in the bivouac and I find a curious thing here," says Rivera in his video. "We all know what the front guys are doing and the traps they do, and I say traps, yes, and cheats, because today I followed the roadbook to the letter and having left all the bikes and all the cars in front and all the buggies, incomprehensible that there was not a trace, then on the waypoints and the CPs [control point] there were the tracks again, all trimmed, all tricked ... this is a trick, "says the Spaniard, who defines the situation as "a house of whores, go misery, here there is a lot of money, the one who pays, they look the other way".

During the video, Rivera reviews the notice posted by the organization during the night of Tuesday reminding the pilots the prohibition to modify the roadbook with new annotations: "'Additive for other days: add any kind of supplementary information in the roadbook, CAPS, directions, useful geographical indications for navigation, distances, GPS points, or privileged information, the traps that are planned these teams at night to win each other and that everyone here knows, now the organization admits to know and it does not do anything, 'well we'll apply it another day', "Rivera says with irony.

The Aragonese trusts that this warning from the organization of the Dakar serves so that "we all have the same", but then adds: "Well, here is never going to be this way, those who pay in these cases always have privileges. This stinks, "adds the 36-year-old pilot.

And then there are also complaints about the organization's Roodbook

Can’t they just put a tracker on each bike and make the heat map available to anyone on line? That would make cheating by course trimming nearly impossible one would think. Don’t the organizers do something like this in Baja?

Not sure what you’re talking about, but.....
I’ve been off Cyril since he got caught in a bog hole/creek, and when some rider/s helped him out he just jumped back on the bike and got the fuck outta there. Ol mate who helped him out was devastated that he was dogged. It was pretty much a cunt act.
Probably about 7 years ago or so

Sam Sunderland won today's stage and moves up to 2nd in the standings , would have been in the lead but got a 2 minute penalty .

Maybe, maybe, pro racers are not paid for chating during racing Wink Certainly Desprey was upset about the time lost, in a rush trying to salvage the day, but would have welcome him back in the paddock. Also, there is a high probability Desprey didn't know the rider numbers whereas the riders who helped knew who he was. Maybe he could contact him directly on his facebook ?

Not going to lie, really missing the Bolivian and Argentinian sights and greenery.
