Growing up in the 90's meant that I got to experience the evolution of Mx games. From EA Sports Supercross, to MTX Mototrax, to the popular Mx Vs Atv series and now Milestone games.

I was extremely competitive with all these (and still are today LOL) and I got the bug to play Reflex this week for the first time in 8 years. It's pretty unreal to think what THQ and Rainbow were able to develop back in 2009.

Since the release of Reflex we've had a fair share of Mx games hit the shelves; but nothing IMO can even come close to the physics and feel of this game. Why in the world can Nordic and Milestone not master this? It has been almost 10-years of people demanding and saying the exact same thing.

I know the whole story behind Mx Vs Atv with THQ and codes getting lost, company closing, and etc. And I know the MX Sim boys and gals are going to come on here but I am just talking about console games.

What do you guys think it is going to take for one of these companies to deliver a game that will remove Reflex off the top spot for a very large amount of players? Milestone is working hard, but still ignoring their major flaws. Nordic definitely brought "free" physics to All Out but still missed what the majority of consumers were looking for (again IMO).

Thoughts?...

After playing a lot of All Out, Reflex comes up way short IMO. I was also competitive in Reflex. It was the best until All Out which is much better.

Just my opinion. The only thing Reflex does better is terrain deformation.

My top 3 MX vs ATV games are Reflex, Alive and MX vs ATV Unleashed.

MES is a favorite of mine as well.

I hope that eventually they can get back to something like Alive and Reflex. Those games were amazing!

I also really liked Alive and wish they would bring back the stick-click preload system. It was way more predictable than the current system.

In a perfect world, PS4, XBOX, and PC would all be able to play with each other and all games come out for all of them. Then we all play mx sim.

On a serious note, a company needs to put funding in to make a game like mx sim with the supercross game graphics. Add in an “easy” mode for people who dont like mxsim physics. I think that would be the ticket.

I havent enjoyed a mx game since atv off road fury 2 or mx vs atv unleashed. Mx sim is the only one that feels good anymore.

Funny this popped up. I got home from work the other night and my daughter was playing MX VS ATV Alive! We hadn't played it in years and i actually forgot we had it. We spent like 2 hours free riding and laughing our asses off! Good times.

The scrub/whip on Reflex just cant be touched. I do enjoy certain things about MES and MXGP but Reflex is also my all time favorite.

I wasnt gaming when Reflex came out and got big, but I have played it some here and there lately. Its a good game but I dont think it does anything better than All Out. I think the biggest thing it had or has going for it was the community making tracks and skins for bikes and riders. IMO Reflex is a bit overhyped. Maybe if I was into it when it was "the game" Id feel differently. I feel that way about MCM2, but people who havent played it much or just watched videos might say its crap. Milestone games are soulless they are good but nothing stands out to me as awesome when I play.

Couldn’t agree more. Playing Reflex online was the most fun I’ve ever had playing video games. No glitches, excellent physics. You could play online with the same group of ten guys and have epic battles for 5 hours, no glitches. After it went offline, I don’t even play video games anymore.

The PC community for Reflex was awesome. Spent a lot of nights racing with guys all over the world.

MX vs Atv Unleashed was my favorite all time. Reflex was great too. I agree sucks that it seems like there hasn't been a great MX game in years.

The sliding around on ice comment proves you never mastered Reflex.

When playing a game of something you are simulating is actually harder than doing it for real, you have failed.

I never gelled with Reflex. Loved all the versions before it. Spent a good chunk of my teenage years playing Unleashed and Alive.

Reflex was/is the best. I remember when they took it off of the servers. Was a sad day.

The only thing Reflex did better than current Milestone games was the free whips. The ground physics are total arcade, and the "reflex" system of staying on the bike was and is stupid. Anyone claiming MX Simulator as being better, well, that was summed up earlier in this thread when Markee said that |"When playing a game of something you are simulating is actually harder than doing it for real, you have failed."

Had some cool tracks including the two DLC Nationals. Only positive to that game.

I agree. The same happens with other games too, I believe that Dirt 2 is the best rally game I've ever played. The new ones don't even come close, IMHO

My 12 year old son and I play both unleashed and reflex when time allows. He usually kicks my ass but it's good and frustrating fun. The 1 thing that makes unleashed stand out is the music, there's some ace tunes. He's/we're getting a PS4 for Christmas so I'll let you know how we get on with the more current crop of games in the new year.

Hands down agree with this, Reflex gameplay is the best there has ever been and nothing has come close. I’m not a gamer by any means but I have spent hundreds of hours on reflex. Pinetop being my favourite track!

I bought a PS4 purely to play mxgp and supercross as they came out at a similar time to each other a year or so ago. I don’t think I’ve spent more than a couple of hours on either game.

Saw supercross new game is coming out. Looked at the gameplay and you can see again the bike looks like it handles poorly and the whips/ scrubs are naff.

The current games are better in every way except the handling and gameplay if they could get that right they’d be onto a winner, I agree if they can get it right 10 years ago why has it gone backwards

Reflex is still by far the best arcade motocross gaming experience there is. If you want more realism you go for mx simulator, plain and simple.

No, mxgp pro is not a simulator or "realistic" by any stretch of the imagination.

Air physics of reflex + ground physics of mxgp would be the perfect game in my opinion. I used to play a lot of reflex in first person view

I was a real fast reflex player, played it recently, it’s worse than milestone games in terms of sliding. But once you learn how to play you don’t even notice it

All out is the best game since reflex. The issue is it's hard to be good at so a lot of people hate it.
