I have been reminiscing on this thread for days and it made me want to look for some of my pics. I will post if I can find some decent pics. I had an 89 YZ 125 and 250 in 1991, 1992 KX 125 in 1992 (favorite bike) 1994 CR 125 in 1993-1994 (first brand new bike) 1994 RM 125 in 1994 and a 1995 KX 125 in 1995. Burns Park, Pine Bluff Regional Park, Swan in Tyler Texas to name a few tracks I loved.

Started with a 86 CR125. Sorry guys, but I thought it was a roach. That dam ATAC valve!!! Anyways I bought a 94 CR125 in Feb of 94. I was a senior in high school. Out the door price was $4995. I raced D16 much of the 90s. Man, I remember having 3 full gates in 125C classes. That 94 was such a great bike I held on to it all these years. I took a break from Moto for quite a while. I rebuilt the 94, and won +40B this last summer!!! These are the last photos I have from that era. Sugar Camp WI.

This was the outside 1/3 of the gate at Sleepy Hollow in Summer of '97. I'm in the red Oneal gear & my buddy is next to me on his KX125 without graphics. It may be 125C but I remember him only running +30 back then. If that's the case, there were a lot of 125's running that class. Both classes were always full gates & sometimes split into additional races. Especially +30C.

One of the best things about this thread is seeing that most of us bought the backgrounds, cut them to fit, then picked up numbers in 3 packs & installed them ourselves. I never considered having them done professionally.

I've always wondered how many other Motodrive members I lined up against over the years & never knew.

I raced at Sleepy in the early 90s and remember they often ran three 125 Motos. 2 qualifiers and then a “main” once they got it down to 40 bikes.

I remember Evansville doing that also.

It's a bummer how much it's all changed. Last time we raced at Sleepy was about 5 years ago. My son raced my CR250 for the first time after moving up from his 125, and I would be surprised if there were 20 riders total on the 250C gate. That was always one of the biggest classes back in the day.

But all forms of racing seem to be struggling these days, so it isn't just us.

Man I don't know what it is but something about this thread and every picture I see in it just looks so pure and the epitome of how awesome motocross is I really feel like something's being lost in translation with the thumpers everything about these pictures on 125 even though I never raced or own one just looks like the perfect picturesque setting of racing when you're younger And growing up into older years am I the only one that sees this or feels this way by looking at some of the pictures and reading the thread post on here?

I remember most of them around here, sleepy hollow, Evansville, trailways speedway, happy ramblers, shippensburg, doing it here and there. I haven’t raced moto since 94 but started racing D6 hare scrambles again this year in the senior class. Although I am now on a YZ250. I belong to Pagoda MC and we just had our biggest event ever last month. A record amount of entries.

Thats Cool too looks like Good Times ,
I sometimes think another reason less people are interested in getting into MX is because when you see it on TV now days it looks so extreme with huge Jumps high speeds etc ,
When i think people probably saw it back then and immediately thought i CAN do that , where as now its wow i dont know if i could that.
Same with nascar in the early days they where using
Regular cars with modifications. So a person watching could think hmm maybe i could do that , with Current nascar its almost impossible to relate to that , or to even imagine that its its something you could do someday.

That's a cool picture. The 70's were bad ass. And I think you're right. We all watched "On Any Sunday" and thought, I can do that! The number of riders back then was crazy. There would be full gates and multiple divisions for a lot of classes.

Super Sweet , i remember Seeing all the 1992 Bikes Come out and i was In Aww of all them , i Seriously Loved the Look of Every 1992 Japanese Bike , yours reminds me of a 92 because of the striped seat cover , but i do recognize the 93 shroud stickers Smile
The 92 KX had the Blue Forks And stripes that went onto the sear that looked Rad,
The 92 RM had that really wild scheme for the first time with the leopard patterns
The 92 Yamaha Had the Pink and it was the first year that had that pointy front fender, i remember sitting on these new at the dealership and loving the ergo's
And The 92 Honda had the Glow Red plastics that literally glowed in the su n!
I didnt end up Getting a 92 at all Sad
I Raced my 1991 KX125 that year , but i decided that if was gonna get one it would Have been the 92 CR125 Because they Had a Demo Day at the millville pro National, we literally got to do laps on the National track on the pro national weekend in 1991 , On 1992 Honda's , how sweat is that , and i loved the 92 CR

95 RM 125 was Ezra Lusk’s practice bike. Raced the 97 RM 125 which had been James Povolny’s previous year national bike. Turkey Creek in SC, Aonia Pass in Washington, GA.

Thats Super cool, for some reason ive always had an interest in ex pro' bikes also , i just thought they would be more dialed. Like suspension and jetting and all.
I remember Povolny riding RM125's
He was a Fast locol here in MN , he was really really fast on 80's too and i remember him hucking all the big jumps on 80's and throwing it all sideways and upside down lol he looked like James Stewart on That 80 lol Except he rode Suzuki's
