Shoulder has come out 3 times. Not from crashing but from hard hits / G outs, doctor recommends surgery.
Has anyone had success riding with a brace or taping?

I would recommend strengthening your rear delt muscles. Here are a few videos I’ve found useful that may help you as well.

I’m happy I did it and if you need it, I’m all in on getting it done. But everyone is different. Depending on what is torn, some things don’t hear on there own like labrum or torn ligaments off bones. Maybe get an MRI if you haven’t and find out what needs repair exactly?
After a few hundred shoulder dislocations in my youth (I still played hard lol), I finally got mine repaired in 1992. Not one problem since.
I've had total ACL replacement w/hamstring graft, too many arthroscopies to list, two total knee replacements and a complete tricep tear repaired and the rotator was by far the worst recovery.
By far! Good luck.

However I regret having the reconstruction, reconstructions restrict movement in the joint, I cant externally rotate more than 90 degrees in the recon shoulder and it is frustrating. If I could go back in time I would never have had the reconstruction and would have had a couple of years of not playing so hard. It would have been difficult to tell that to a 20yo me though.
