Yes! The factory ECU is critical if you want to win. Just ask the Stewart family!
Oh... and if they don't get the right tires (Stewarts) that could be a major problem too!

Bill's and BUD carbon also have my attention... So many cool choices!
FYI, I dropped 2.9 pounds on my 250sx stock vs Bud/HGS system.

I dont like how "big" the new fmf 2 stroke silencers look, they look like a 4 stroke exhaust. Idk what fmf was thinking when making those. Id go PC for a kawi or yamaha. Have you tried seeing if a bills pipe silencer will fit? Bills have some pretty killer 2 stroke pipes and silencers. I think the ones that are hand made with the welds around the whole pipe cost $100 mpre then normal.
I actually did take a look at Bill's and shot them an email with a couple questions! I've always wanted to try their stuff... I think they just shot to the top of my list.

Absolutely hate my bud pipe and silencer. Shit has never fit from the git go and they have been terrible to deal with customer service wise! My pipe has always leaked oil at the cylinder no matter how many new seals I put on the pipe. The silencer always blows off the pipe under high pressure. Went back to stock pipe and silencer NO PROBLEMS. Getting an fmf now

Also the pipe started to break and the rep accused me of not taking care of my bike! Really?! Wash every ride (with silencer plug) change oil every other ride, air filter every ride l. Very very disappointed in bud racing

Thanks for all your input guys. Going to put a little more thought into this before I buy.

I will say , as far as FMF , I've never had an issue with their build quality. Kind of leaning back towards the Ti powercore here. So damn expensive though...sheesh!

But still cheap compared to 4 stroke full systems :Evil

Yeah dude, and I'm sure your subframe is perfectly straight and all the mounting holes line up with Germanic precision.

The stress fractures at the hottest point of your pipe tells me there's an unequal amount of force being applied to that one small area of the pipe. Did you ever stop to consider why that might be happening to your otherwise perfectly tuned and washed bike?

Your stock pipe works fine because it was probably originally bent with everything else on your bike that is probably bent. Fitting an aftermarket exhaust on an old bike with even the slightest variation in mounting hole positions is a challenge no pipe manufacturer should have to deal with (or be responsible for).

But yes, keep shoving that round peg into a square hole and blame Bud for it. All Buds fault.

I'm willing to bet you a brand new pipe that if you slightly bent your Bud's pipe to account for the other parts of your bike that are bent, it will work just fine. Go ahead, try it out.

Nailed it Swann! That is what I thought immediately upon seeing the "damage" pic. Definitely an alignment or improper install issue there. Also, the guy from Bud wasn't referring to your bike washing habits 140, but rather your bike condition issues.

I just put a new sub frame on it about a month ago. No alignment issues. He tried telling me water somehow got into the pipe (that's why I stated that I use a wash plug when I wash) what ever I'm buying a PC just done with bud. Terrible customer service

When I last had a smoker ( 05 rm250) I used DEP pipes, never had any problems , good fit and sounded nice.
I'm not even sure DEP is still going though, they were only20 minutes from me and always helpful

No idea on weight. It feels lighter than the OE silencer that came on my 13.

I actually like the look of the new FMF silencers. They better fit the 250 IMO. Some of the other really slim silencers look goofy to me on big bikes. Plus, the bike does seem a bit quieter than the old FMF I replaced it with.

Are peoe actually buying these fucking things for theirb2 stroke? .... Someone asked "What was FMF thinking making these 4 stroke clone silencers" and i can tell you just from looking at it.....streamlining their stampings and trying to phase out the older style weve all come to know and love. Just looking at these 4 stroke carryover silencers theyre sort of retrofitting to two stromes and literally (there was a thread) where lil d was called out bigtime by a memeber about this practice and i cant remember who it was but the grilled the shit out of lil d asking DIRECT questions calling out the validity of these now behemoth silencers fmf is trying to pass onto 2 stroke riders....i dont think its working either and all it is ...is a way for fmf to use their 4 stroke line to fill tge 2 stroke market and eliminate making 2 completely different silencers. In the thread i am referring to (some of you may remember) that said member was directly asking why they (fmf) was making these new 2 stroke silencers and lil d was defending them but he couldnt lay down any proof that there was a performance advantage to the "new" style and danced around the main question non stop...i was part of the thread calling bs too bec there literally is NO performance gain and if anything they are heavier, bigger, and use more expensive materials and if i remember correctlt one of the main beefs was that said member felt that fmf may be trying to garner 4 stroke esque prices on 2 strome silencers which is absolutely absurd! These things look like enduro silencers with 3 spark arrestors in them and they are WAY too big. This isnt a shit in fmf comment and i don't even know if theyre even still selling these models much anymore as the classic design reigns supreme. One of the points lil d kept making was how quiet these silencers are and retain power which i think was funny because 2 strokes dont have the sound problem at all like the 4 strokes do and the quiet/power gains was proven to be false against its classic powercore model counterpart. It was an entertaining thread for sure and this particular member had donnie dead to rights on his legitimate concerns. What i dont understand is, why try to reinvent the wheel when their classic design is not only tried and true, worked generically good'er and was so far from touching even a penny of their r&d budget. All they had to do was keep producing the classic powercore design and when new models came out they had to shift the mounting tab positions to fit whatever model they needed to but the overall can remained the same as did the perforated core which im pretty sure they use a standardized diameter perforated core for each displacement size 65, 85, 125, 250 as well as length specs and the only customized part of any of their silencers was the pipe bend from the end of the exhaust pipe to the start of the silencer can. To me i feel theyve gotten extremely lazy in design and thats why their 2 stroke exhaust products have become more of a lifestyle brand than and actual performance brand bec theyre not too far off in performance from oem stock exhausts and are more of a direct oem replacement product than an actual performance designed and oriented product like they used to be about and to me its hard to group them in with their. Competition in the 2 stroke arena ONLY bec they (fmf) DO pour all their R&D dollars into 4 stroke exhaust systems and they do a great job with those products bec thats where the market is i dont fault them for that, its when they claim to be a 2 stroke performance company as well bec its becoming somewhat cool again yet like i said their products for 2 strokes are more of a direct oem replacement than a race performance part these days with exception to the factory fatty but my gripe is with the silencers. To me Bud racing, hgs, bills, doma, and even PC make race performance 2 stroke products ....am i the only one that feels fmf's direction with their 2 stroke products isnt inline with what the aforementioned companies all have in common?

By the way sorry to revive this read and write you guys a 2 addition novel on the subject but I was trying to figure out if it was possible to make my own silencer based on the concept that some of these companies employ with the standardized perforated core and can size length Etc which in my houses does seem like it's very possible

Sheesh, who pissed in your cornflakes? I don’t understand most of what you ranted about? Why are you so offended about the size of a freaking dirt bike silencer? And if it’s true that FMF wanted to stream line production and use some 4 stroke silencer stampings, what’s it to ya? The manufacturer is trying to be cost conscious and find a simpler way to make their good at a better profit. If it was made out of lead I would get your point, but it isn’t. As far as when Lil D made a comment about it being quieter: A. Have you tested it to confirm that it isn’t? B. Why does 4 stroke sound issues come into your argument? You state that the person in this previous FMF thread had a “legitimate concern.” What the hell is there to be concerned about? Lastly, please make a silencer that is half as nice as an FMF and please still be selling them 45 years later. Done.

How can you run anything other than a matching brand combo?? Just get the damn scalvini.
This. Gotsta keep the brand the same. Just scooped up a new Turbinecore II for my 94 CR125. Found it new on eBay. I don’t think FMF produces them at the moment. I jumped all over it to hit the trails and match my FMF pipe.

Put a new turbinecore2 on my 97 yz125. Couldn’t find a power core 2 for it so had to go with the turbine. Any drawbacks?
