Kinda heart breaking for Reed.

But I suppose if you want to race, you got to race.

both metty and reed have substantially more experience on us soil than the other 3 combined....metty is racing mx,

sure its good to give the young guys experience, but arent teams going there to win or place as high as possible?

reed metty and lawrence seems a better pick than who is now..

and that besides their profiles in the us...

of course i wish the team the best of luck...

Ummm,no!. Neither Metty who has actually been racing, nor Reed , whom hasn't, stand any hope of even keeping Mitch Evans in sight...hes very, very good and totally deserving of this chance..

Mitch Evans would have trouble keeping Kirk Gibbs in sight, ,Kirk is that good but is coming back from injury..thats a question mark.
There are other riders here that have Metty covered, and Reed has done nothing lately to warrant selection. End of story, they chose the best possible team that was available.
Reed has said nothing derogatory against our team pics nor should he...he would need to be able to beat all,of them in a 30 min moto in order to caim superiority. He could have come down here and raced the last few national rounds..he didn't....would he have had his ass kicked d if he did??? I am a Reed fan, but he can't rest on past performances, they are a long time ago now

Does any remeber last time reed raced mxon in latvia 2014? He didnt even both riding or training up to the event. He even said that in a prerace interview. He should of raced some Nationals this year to show hes ready. Gibbs and Evans deserve the spots.

Should tenure really matter when it comes to MXoN picks? Shouldn’t Reed himself understand that this would be in Australia’s best interest, given that he hasn’t really been racing the outdoors since, when, 2015 or so?

If he gets an SX ride next year (which I’m sure he will, unless he turns down the offers), why not use that as your farewell tour like Ricky did, and give your country a better shot at winning the MXoN?

I’m sorry but the truth is he has nothing to show for why he should make the team and the only one it will keep awake at night is Ellie.

Not racing a single outdoor race for years and then whining on social media about not making the team is imo pretty disrespectul towards the guys that have worked their asses off and made the team based on their recent results. Saying you’re better than them when you have zero results to back you up is just ignorant.

If you want to race you have to race. It’s not politics, it’s the reality of the situation.

Massive, massive Reed fan but also find it a little trivial that he is so bummed about non seelction. He's clearly very fit but hasn't given the selectors any reason to pick him besides his experience. No one's seen him run a 30 min moto in years.

He's also claiming on Carey Hart's insta earlier that he comfortably believes he could beat all of the Aussies at the moment, including Ferris. Big call.

Saw Harts IG this morning was surprised so many people thought Reed had a chance of getting selected.

I do. And I remember being very disappointed. But then I also remember;

Just saw that too. I get what he’s saying. And if he has been putting in the work to be able to race, sure he can be dissapointed aboit it. He thinks he would beat the guys on the team, as he should think as a professional athlete.

BUT still, that’s only words. He has no results to show for the effort he says he has put in. His only arguments are his own words that he would smoke the chosen riders and that he thinks he has earned the special moment. And those just aren’t legit reasons to be selected. He should have showed up to a couple of races this summer to prove himself, and if he thinks he’s ready and fit I don’t get why he didn’t do it. Making a fuzz about it now on social media is just pointless.

Adding to my previous post after seeing Chad's latest post, I can appreciate his opinion of wanting to be selected given his status and what he has done for Aus MX, simply
wanting one last go around.

Kinda a shitty call for himself to say that Ferris is the only Australian rider that can beat him with nothing to back that up. I am an Australian and a huge fan of reed but there’s something’s you shouldn’t call out.

Yeah big fan of Reed but he just needs to let it go.

I think he's going through the mixed emotions of finally giving away racing.

Do a 1 year deal with JGR as a farewell tour and sign off in style....

I think a motivated healthy Reed beats Gibbs no problems, but as everyone has said he hasn’t raced to prove it.

He also called out Byrne and Motorcycling Australia, which I found a bit unnecessary.

I don’t get either the massive support he is getting on social media. People really think he should be picked based on his former merrits? That he would actually be competitive without any outdoor racing on under his belt? I’ve liked Reed ever since he was a kid showing up in the world championships and agree that the guy is an absolute legend but still. I didn’t even know him racing the nations was an option until his instagram post.

Just a thought, but maybe a few weeks before the rider selection was made, why didn’t he enter a few nationals to show them what he’s got. Perhaps had he finished inside the top five at a few nations, he may have been given some consideration. Or perhaps he may have embarrassed himself a little. Guess we’ll never know.

Hope he comes and races a national here again, give Mitch Evans th opportunity to utterly humiliate him. Dean Ferris is full of praise for Evans, Ferris is a classy rider and a classy bloke,Reed should watch and learn.
I've always been a Reed fan and I still hope he has a good year in as next year, but he's lost me now....this is pathetic..him claiming that he could smoke Gibbs and Evans is the height of arrogance.
There's an old saying...put up or shut up!

Well that's one way of interpreting it I suppose. But for someone who just very recently stated that he sees himself as being good for selling bikes and bringing fans ,so therefore valuable asset for any team..it seems silly to alienate himself from long time fans in this way...has not done himself any favours at all . I've never seen Aussie fans criticise him like this before...Im one of the critics now...never thought I would be, but I've seen Mitch Evans racing this year....Chad's dreaming..

Was it Bob Hannah that said " it doesn't matter what people say about you ,just as long as they are talking about you" ?

He would have served himself better to be full of praise for Kirk Gibbs and Mitch Evans and given them encouragement to help bolster their performance
He's made himself seem a real dick over this.. at this point in his career...he really shouldn't have done that

Calling out MA for allowing a National supercross on the same date is what every Aussie should be doing, not just Reed.
It is laughable (but not surprising) that the organisation that is supposed to support and grow motorcycling in Australia can fuck this up so monumentaly.

As for calling out Byner, that might be a bit harsh.

Ask Ferris, Gibbs or Waters if there is any Aussie rider that they think they cannot beat and they will all say no. Reed is no different, that is why they have all been and continue to be successful.

WOW, not a lot of love for CR22 down under! Really surprises me--who's the biggest MX legend from Australia, to the Aussies on here?

We all love him mate, it’s just that we don’t put up this arrogance without actually backing it up. It’s just the way we take it in these situations.

Mitch Evans is a 19 year old kid having a big dig in his rookie season in the 450 class and going very well, I think he deserves the shot. Been following him since juniors and his talent just steps huge levels year after year. Shows how much hard work he’s putting in.
