How crazy is it that a child prodigy, lorettas winner, turned sx champion, a guy who can do a double backflip on a dirtbike, has beaten McGrath and Carmichael, cant scrub? It makes noooooooo sense. I know kids on 65s that can scrub their ass off. Hes one of the most talented people on a dirt bike in history, hands down, but cant do a basic riding technique that 11 yr olds can do? How...

Do u think its more of him refusing to learn it, not wanting to, hes too tall, idk. What do u guys think? He talks about how disappointed that he is that he cant do it, it makes him feel old, and it costs him a ton of time on a stupid single. He says he hates the technique since he cant do it lol and how hes getting his time crushed by it.

Why can he not do this he owns a freaking foam pit for christs sake. Not to mention a basic scrub is easy, easier than a fat ass whip over a triple. A bubba scrub is very hard, especially over huge jumps. But a lil scrubby scrub over a single.... my dad can literally do them n hes 61. Wtf travis.

His knees are cooked, among other things. Guy has given a lot to the sport, including most of the cartilage in his knees,

He doesn't need to scrub anyway.

WTF?

Who cares if he can't scrub.

99.9% of people who have ever ridden a dirt bike can't do a double back flip 360 and land it.

who gives a fuck? can they do backflips? times change. A 40th place c rider can scrub but you dont see them ever getting to the top.

Further, i thing peoples idea of a scrub and a SCRUB is worlds apart. Personally i think it gets fucking boring watching dudes do it just for show. When your going too fast to hit a jump then ok, until then concentrate on late breaking and power delivery and posture on the bike you morons. You might make a B rider someday.

Scrubbing is likely one of the worst "tricks" known to Motocross.

just an old mans opinion.

besides. he likely has "less" bones broke because he can't / doesn't want to scrub.

Some angry people responding here. drt410, it is funny. He was never really good at whips either, and would readily admit it, yet he could do that classic flat liner where the bike would go way out sideways and his body would go off the other way. RC never adopted the scrub either when he was racing James.

Who? I’ve never even heard of him. I just googled him and he’s number 199 so he must not be that fast.

I think he could do them if he took the time to practice. When I watch that video, I don't see him saying he would never be able to do them, just that he realized how much ground he was losing by not learning how to do them. I also don't blame him for not trying to learn them on a 500cc 2 stroke mid event.

If Pastrana decided he wanted to learn how to scrub, I'd bet my house that he would be doing them in no time... if he hasn't already.

I think it's a lot to do with his 6'2 frame. I'm the same height and just getting up out of a chair makes my knees click. James is 5'9 right? every little helps. literally

Grip it and rip it. Going sideways is stupid. If you wanna be fast do things opposite, toss them nuts on the tank and hold on for dear life.

In other words. Who cares, lets talk trash about ET3, MM25, RD5, CR22, JS7. Travis has done way too much for the sport and my child hood. I don't think I would have ridden if it wasn't for that guy.

The guy in the pic posts on here as devindavisphoto. I'm sure he can tell the story. If not someone else can chime in.

Anyone with half a brain knows if he wanted to scrub he’d prob go out and learn it pretty damn quickly. But when you think about it, staying low on jumps was prob never on his list of things to give a fuck about lol

Pastrana also says he can’t whip a bike either. Weird he can do everything else except those 2 things. Always tripped out on that

You know who CAN scrub? this kid.

Whipped RV at Hangtown on a 125, , but can only get 5th in the C schoolboy class this year at Lorreta's.

As talented as Travis Pastrana is, the skills todays racers have are incredible.
