I actually thought that it was kind of a genius move to bring out all of the History Channel's Vegas show characters for little cameos during the down times. And none of them were so corny that they really embarrassed themselves or anything.
Not sure why folks are comparing it to the racing broadcasts and grumbling. They are pretty different events, and people bitch about the breakout segments that they do on the race broadcasts enough as it is. Imagine the coronaries they'd have if they had the guys from Pawn Stars on for 10 minutes every week!!!!!!!
And moreover of those rare weekends when Wide World of Sports might feature EK, god forbid the agony of defeat as a result instead of the thrill of victory.
I liked it. Reminded me of being 7, which was nice. Had nice parallels of a young Robert Craig Knievel who managed to carve out his own legend and the young phenom who would show astonishing skills as a very young man, win a national motocross title, and grow into an international icon.
Were the jumps practiced and perhaps relatively easy for someone of his phenomenal skills?
Perhaps.
Would you, personally, really have lined up that fountain jump on your blinged out thoroughly modern 450 that has never seen the far side of a 90 foot jump? Really? Oh, you'd send your kid out to do it on his 65? Well... yeah. Easy peasy.
Lotta heroes that never made it out of the C class up in here.

Evel was a bad dude in his day. Pastrana is a bad dude in this day. And if you're one of the dudes bored with this -- yeah, it had its slow moments and forced drama, whatever -- you're not my kind of dude.

This was an homage to his idol. No reason for finding fault in everything.And yes TP is ultra talented but part of the allure of it is keeping it as close to the original stunt as possible. It gave me chills to see him in the Evel suit. But hey, that's me.
I had several people who don't give a crap about dirt bikes say it was cool and I thought all the Evel footage was great. Brought me back to my childhood.
I have to say it was very accurate even the hype , the only difference was I knew Travis would make it no problem.
Back in the day Evel crashing or being extremely sketchy was a given.
