How many Pro´s got hurt same day at same track? Thats why they should ride private tracks or private hours.

Obviously we have no clue what happened, but I’ve always thought it was super dangerous for the best riders in the world to practice with some regular weekend warriors. Dangerous for both groups I mean. I’d stay far away from them if I were a pro. What he might see as a cross jump was most likely a lesser skilled rider making a mistake and causing it. No way would I take off in the air anywhere near other lesser skilled riders.

So shit for Deano hope he heals up quick. I hope Husqvarna keep him for next year, really don’t want to see him struggling once again.

That's just unreasonable as a business model. If the pro's don't want to practice with the average joe, don't go to Glen Helen on Thursday's and stay in Florida. The teams have the money to rent the track out.
It’s one day a week. Milestone’s Supercross track is like that every day, and somehow they’ve figured out how to sustain it. Which would you rather have; one day of less than normal business, or one Rich Cain getting hit by a pro and attemptng to sue your track out of existense?

Dude i couldnt agree with you more ..... i mean glen helen thursdays is legendary for outdoor testing with the best ill bet a lot of average dudes show up on a thursday just because they know theyll see plenty of pro riders on the same track which is cool from a fans standpoint but seriously how hard would it be for the 6 factory teams plus bigger teams to pay a 4x a month retainer for pro private practice on thursdays? Closed off to the public only on thursdays

That is horrible news...

But why are these guys practicing on tracks like Glen Helen with random squids at the same time on the track? The risk of something like this happening has to be huge. It's actually weird that we don't see more of these incidents.

Absolutely gutted for Deano, he was just starting to put it together and I was looking forward to seeing how he went outdoors. It's completely blows my mind that they don't split the riding into sessions based on ability, or have pro only practice days. The speed differential is absolutely frightening at times, and it's a wonder stuff like this doesn't happen more often. Hope Deano has a speedy recovery and come back strongly

Yeah there was a quad/bike crash on insta doing the rounds the other day too. I gotta say, it seems crazy how you guys have quads, kids and squids on track with dudes who are literally light years ahead.

Pros can be in mix practice down here but usually they avoid or we're all very aware it's a pro-day and you better have your shit together.

Can't imagine how much of a re-re that dude feels.... bad enough you would anyways but i all seriousness Deano's job might not be that secure is it?

Crazy how fearless these guys can seem. How quickly a guy like dean would catch some amateur, and to be doing that right as they take off a jump, I'd want to slow down and just go by in a corner, straight away or hucking one of the huge jumps. Might not get a full lap n that way though

Kid needs 6 months injury free! Many Pros have been hurt at local practice tracks not wanting to slow down a little bit when close to slower guys!

I was out at GH last Saturday. REM race. It was a fairly light turn out but as I watched the guys hitting the jumps in front of the stands....My exact thought was, "Geez, I bet this section is crazy with a full track". Lots of cross jumping...kinda the way that section is laid out.

Ummm... Why dont they just split up practice? Really easy solution here fellas. 20 mins for goons, 20 mins for kids, and 20 mins for pros. Easy peasy. Why tracks dont do this is crazy to me

It's weird how some guys just can't get away from injuries. Dean and Bogle are the recent examples, get hurt even when it's not their fault. Carmichael rode in the bleeding edge but didn't have that many injuries comparatively.

So bummed for him! How many times has he fucked up his knees? Now it'll be out for the whole summer recovering, then have a slow start to SX because he's getting back into race shape and maybe he'll be 100% for 2019 nationals. Ugh!

Heal up quick, Deano!

And Milestone is a postage stamp compared to Glen Helen, not to mention you're using their SX track as an example. Last time I was there the outdoor track didn't have segregated practice, so there is that.

Thursday's at Glen Helen have been open practice for as long as I can remember. One used to be able to ride it the Thursday before the National if they wanted to. Deano gets hurt (really sucks ass, totally gutted for him) and all of a sudden it's time to break-up practice?

Yes but I bet only 5% of the average Joe will want to rider the SX track. Pro’s have access to private tracks all over the country which the average Jow don’t know about and now you want to give them full access to the tracks as well for themselves? Hope i’m Reading you right? They need a pro only practice session not close the track off to non pros for a day.

You and avidchimp are right, maybe they don’t need a whole day, but a pro only practice would go a long way towards keeping these kind of injuries at a minimum.

I haven't been reading everything on Vital, but I've seen a few posts on Instagram where they're hating on Amateurs being on the same track as the pros. Hey noobs, guess what, it's been like this for 20+ years (maybe more, I'm just speaking from as long as I've been riding). I do think they should reserve Thursdays at Glen Helen to Pro's only, because I've been out there and nearly ran into the back of tons of slower riders and I was only a decent Intermediate at the time, so imagine the Pro riders who are nearly running into every decent Intermediate PLUS every slower beginner/novice as well! I don't think you can blame the slower rider here, because more than likely Dean was behind this guy before he even realized, AND a rider like Dean isn't staying in the same line throughout the track. I wasn't there, I don't know who he landed on, and I'm not pointing fingers, but it's entirely possible the slower rider held his line and Wilson came across the track doing his "normal" scrub line and the lines intersected, meanwhile the guy who got hit did nothing wrong. Just my 2 cents.

With that being said, get well soon Dean. I was looking forward to seeing how he does this year.

Man that sucks to hear. Just one less good rider out before we even start outdoors. Hard to keep coming back missing an entire series almost every year or every other year. Heal up and hope to see him back with that same speed and desire.
