I had the same thought about a month ago watching Narcos when I was googling M-19 and related stuff. He was a motorcyclist of sorts as well, and had a NY Times best seller called "The Motorcycle Diaries" that documented a 5,000 mile motorcycle adventure throughout South America.

The resemblance is uncanny.
