There is nothing wrong with getting a generic version of Lexapro or whatever he suggest. Non addictive and easy to get off of if they don’t agree with your system. They will help you sleep at night. Be aware it does take a few weeks to get the full effect. Try not to go the Xanax route as that is extremely additive and it does kill thousands a year. I would only suggest those for extreme anxieties such as flying or whatever gets you on edge. No no for sleep maintenance as the dosage will need to increase if used daily....then you are a drug addict
Other suggested pot. It doesn’t work for me but it is worth a try. Probably the least harmful for you if it does the trick. My 62 year old wife toast one up every night to help her sleep.
Sleep gets harder the older you get so try and get a safe handle on it. Exercise is great as previously mentioned but it may not be all u need. To me it’s better to take a prescription of antidepressants if necessary to get a solid nights sleep. Half of America’s on them....might as well join the party.
Anyway that’s my opinion...you will get many on this subject

Clonezapam, Paxil, and Ativan as needed have helped me stay clean and sober for 28 years.
Mental health matters.
I have been working graveyard shift for a little over a year and was feeling really depressed and sleep deprived. Best thing I've found is to wake up. Smoke some weed. Get some exercise. And repeat before bed.
Pills are baaaad in most cases.
Also what really helped me was micro doseing magic mushrooms. Taking such a small dose towgere you don't even feel the affects. I wake up the next days and it's like I got a massage for my brain. For real
I have this thing where at night at about 8 , 9 or 10pm.....my brain goes into hyper drive. Usually at least 5 nights a week. With my brain going that fast , the body reacts and you get that " nervous energy " thing going on. I had gotten so bad at times that I would literally feel exhausted , but my mind and body would not slow down......and when it finally did , I would be bed ridden for a good 14 - 16 hours and take me 2 days to feel normal again. ( Bronwyn and Justin can tell you )
I would be up for two full days strait.....to the point of working out and even running in the middle of the night to try and burn energy off. I've worked out for 5+ hours strait and it didn't make a dent!.....still up for two full days ( missing two nights of sleep )
So after years of suffering , I went and saw a doctor. Been since January that I take a Trazadone and a beta blocker to slow myself down. I now sleep like a baby , and feel pretty damn good the next day after I get some coffee in me. I hate having to take things like this , but it got to the point where it felt like it was ruining my life. I have to say....I feel pretty fucking awesome right now! Wish I would have gone and seen the doctor before.
I needed help with my sleep , but I know some people take this stuff for depression. The anxiety stuff acts up for no reason and is 100% random for me. I can be stressed on money , bills , everyday life....and sleep like a baby. I can be at the beach crabbing and fishing.....and have a fucking anxiety attack. Makes no sense to me.

After getting scared by ambien my doctor had me try trazadone. Definitely put me to sleep but left me groggy for half the next day. Now I use melatonin a few nights a week and an ambien if I know I need a full 8 hours. I only keep ambien at my bedside table, don't want to risk taking it then getting diverted before bed. And never with alcohol!
Ambien is a good tool, but you have to be careful with it. My doc said that it doesn't develop a true addiction but that it can definitely become habitual. I used to worry about that a lot, but so far I can not use it for a couple weeks without any ill effects. Hopefully that lack of total dependence stays put.
