Sorry, but the engine needed to be fuzzed out. But its basically a Husky (KTM) roller with a 250cc 2-Stroke engine. The manufacture builds the these motors for a O.E.M. so parts and quality should be as good as any OEM. It's not a "Race" engine but can be made to put out H.P. you like.. think enduro power plant.
This sport needs a fun entry level machine .. could this be it? I don't have the answer, but figured I would share the pic
125cc MSRP 4100.00 USD
250cc MSRP 4800.00 USD
300cc MSRP 5500.00 USD

As a enduro rider I am triggered.
I hope I'm wrong though.

A good laugh!
MX? I don't know. I think it would be sketchy. I would not jump 25-30 meter long tabletops on a Chinese bike. Not because it comes from China, only because of lack of knowledge about the reliability of the frame, wheels etc.

Pass.
The KTM is only a few hundred bucks more expensive. I think the SX 125 was 200€ more expensive than the YZ 125 here in Finland.
Either KTM are losing money on their 2 strokes or Yamaha are making a lot from them. Yamaha can put what ever price they want on their bikes, people obviously buy them otherwise they wouldn't sell them for that price. But i'm sure they could drop the price on the YZ 125/250 and still make money on them. That would also attract even more potential buyers.
It's just funny in my mind that so many people see the prices of the bikes as a problem(and i agree) in our sport, yet a manufacturer is basically selling 13 year old bikes for the same price as an other brand sells their 2 year old bikes. It is a pity, the YZ 125 and 250 in their current form could be a fantastic entry level bike.
I'm not suggesting these bike will replace full on moto bikes like the CRF250R/450R's and have the gates packed. But it could get family's ridding and once they start riding maybe they will say "lets go to the track" and if they enjoy that and want to try racing they will have to step up and buy a CRF/KXF/YZF.. etc..
The sport is getting pretty pricey from what it was 20 years ago.
