Have you guys had any issues with the Maxxis tires leaking from the sidewalls? Both the front and rear from the day they were put on leak the sealant from the sidewalls every ride. They don't really lose any air pressure while I ride, but they do lose about 5-6 psi over a week from time to time.

I'll try and get pictures of it. Its been raining here so I haven't been able to ride in a few weeks. It literally seeps through the sidewall of the tire in multiple places around both sides of both tires. It shows up sometimes as little white droplets then slings everywhere when I ride.

It seeps through the actual sidewall itself? Not between the bead and the rim?

If it's seeping through the sidewall then you'd have to assume it's the tire or sealant. Either way that's fucked up shit. That. Aint. Normal.

Back in the day used to ride this:

23,000 not 230,000. That would be like everesting 8 times. 23K is still a shit ton of climbing.
I signed up for Marji Gesick which is 12K and I expect to fully die.

Sure does. The bead and rim is perfect. It was just odd that it was both tires all the way around on both sides, not just one tire on one spot.

I interned at Trek over the summer and the deals are too good to turn down!
My girlfriend mostly rides the e-bike just to keep up when we go riding, and my mother has actually started commuting to work on it. I have taken it out a couple times myself and it is a blast, I don't fully understand the e-bike hate.

I rode a townie one a couple months back. Just had it on the road. Man it was fun. The motor cuts out at 30kph and I was hammering up an uphill and dyingggggg. Was riding at like 33kph and forgot that the motor is off at 30kph+. I let off a bit and holy man was it fun to just rip up the hill with so much less effort.

Super excited for some demo days to come by in the spring and shred one in the trails. Heard nothing but good things.

North America seems to loathe them. I was listening to a Vital MTB podcast the other day - can't remember who they were interviewing but they said that ~50% of their brand's sales in Germany are e-bikes. Wild!

What are you using? I think I'm done with Stan's myself. The rim tape isn't working too well either.

it's a simple reason - in the US, bikes have had to fight hard to get access to trails that hikers use, most of which are considered nonmotorized. An ebike is motorized. Adding that to the mix makes mtn bike groups look like hypocrites and gives the hikers ammunition to kick all bikes off. I don't know anybody that doesn't think ebikes are fine on motorized trails. I also don't know anybody that doesn't think that an ebike is motorized. If the nonmotorized vs motorized wasn't as big of an issue in the US, ebikes might be more accepted. There is also the fact that it looks like manufacturers are paying off IMBA to get them to support ebikes, which rubs a lot of people wrong.

I dont really notice it other than the suspension works really really well. It pedals almost like an XC bike even with the shock wide open and it is capable enough on descents to race it in enduros, which I have done several.

I have the 4.5 with the Switch Infinity. Most manufacturers have their own gimmicky suspension design in order to separate themselves from the others because I guess there aren't many ways to be different. And I'll admit Yeti's design is the most ridiculous-looking out of pretty much all of them.

But, it climbs insanely well in the rough, rocky trails. Keeps the power to the ground really well and was a massive improvement over my previous gen Yeti.

Best part about the specialized is you can do a wheel hack to confuse the computer to thinking it has 800mm diameter tires which eliminates the governor. I can get mine to hit 30-35mph no problem

Relating to ebike sales, i've heard recently for europe in general that one in every 3 bikes sold is an ebike, I personally love them.

See I think that is a giant misconception that a lot of people have, the bike itself weighs 50 pounds, its a monster to maneuver on the trails. I can wear my heart rate monitor on the same loop with ebike versus my slash and my heart rate is identical if not higher on the ebike. You HAVE to pedal it to make it move, it will only match your power output. Harder you work the faster you go! With the levo you can control the percentage of the motor output and current for each mode and I have admittedly turned it down on my girlfriend when i think she's getting lazy haha

Yeah so the titanium bike I actually built as part of a college class. It is called hand built bicycle at the University of Iowa and is only about 10-12 students and you build a bicycle frame from scratch. I received engineering credits for completing the courses. The first time you build a chromoly steel frame to make sure you get the jist of frame building down. The second time taking the course you are allowed as much freedom as you wish to create your titanium masterpiece. I began designing on autocad basing some of the dimensions off of a salsa deadwood, the hardtail version, which is a 29+ bike packing rig. Other dimensions I adjusting using my personal body geometry and what ive learned from my previous experience with my chromoly frame. Once everything is in place ordered all the ti tubing and titanium machined parts and set up the frame jigs using the dimensions from autocad. then tube by tube cut them to length and notch the ends with a whole saw and hand file till each is a desired fit. then when the front triangle is complete tack it together and begin the rear triangle. I used a flex plate to allow the rear triangle to flex under larger loads and act as a small suspension dampener.

Autocad Drawing of Frame and Flexplate

Front Triangle in the jig with full size drawing behind for reference

Flex Plate

Cutting seat post to proper height for dropper post

Working with the Professor to make proper cut

Completed Frame out of the Jig

Finished Product! RS-1 Fork, Enve Bars, Bontrager Line 40 Wheels, Sram Guide Brakes
