Not gonna lie...never put Phil in the category of a "stylish" rider or super technical rider...but damn!!!

The #54 Suzuki makes me think of Broc Hepler and how fun he was to watch ride. Not flashy or overly stylish, just talented and fast.

Growing up, we kids in the 65 class looked up to Broc and we used to joke that when Broc was on the RM85 his dad was using a remote control to drive Broc's bike because of how fast he seemed to go and how he never seemed to be on the brakes. Haha.

Would rather see him on a 450, though.

I was about to say. This actually was him crashing lol. I'm jk. This pic is sick as hell. I am a big fan of Phil and I don't think he gets the respect he deserves. I don't know what he has to do but I think he can be a guy that can get to that next level and do even better. He has the speed he just needs to keep it up on two wheels he is kind of in a tough situation with his jgr deal.

Phil is the man, and I agree he definitely does not get the respect he deserves. I can't believe jgr gave jimmy d the full contract and stuck phil with a shit sx only lites deal. IMO Phil is the better pick who both has and will bring more value to the team. They are pretty close in sx, though JD did marginally better last season. I think 2018 will show Phil ahead in the points. In outdoors, it is no question who the better rider is. Phil got 5th in 450mx in 2016 and what even was JD's best finish outdoors? It was 16th in the 250 class at Thnder Valley 2017 where he went on to finish out the season in 25th, his career best. Just doesn't make sense, especially as filthy has been with jgr for a pretty long time now. But the worst of it is that JGR promised Phil the full contract only to renege on their word at such a late point in the "game" that Phil got screwed out of a gear deal and the opportunity to seriously pursue any other offers. Total dick move on jgr's part, just shows how little they value and respect him. Anyway, hope Phil has a kickass season so he can give jgr the finger and move on to a better team.

Its a business deal.

With so many riders on the JGR team and Phil being able to do 250 or 450 on a moments notice JGR can not offer him a ride knowing full well there is a very high chance they will have an injured rider and Phil to fill in. One of the cases where being loyal might have screwed him. Im sure he will get a ride somewhere for outdoors if JGR is 100% healthy. Too many guys going really fast to make it through SX without issues.

Phil only finished three races I think and got one fifth. While Jimmy never finished outside of the top 10 in all races and was running up front multiple times in the top 3. "Marginally better"

Yea, it is a business deal like all contracts in the sport, but that doesn't mean it's a good one. The number of riders on the team or any other factor did not stop jgr from telling Phil he had the ride only to go back on their word at a very inopportune time for him....and that is fucked up, go listen to Phil talk about it on his latest appearance on the pulp show, he is clearly pissed. I was simply agreeing with djc that Phil does not get the respect he deserves and this is a perfect example.

JGR has it going on with the bikes this year. They are works of art. Maybe they will pump some life back into the Suzuki brand. With all the talk of RCH etc. going away, it's nice to see business as usual over at JGR.
