Im embarrassed by where the sport is heading if that is what we are relying on. You think about how long and hard, years, those who make decisions worked to get away from that sideshow low budget type personality and to try and make it a professional series is getting blown out the window in such a short time.
Im glad i was around the sport when we relied on great racing for entertainment

Now some of you will probably tell me how that doesn't mean shit but the reality of the situation is social media presence is one of the most important things to large companies.
Let’s say RC got lucky in 1997 after doing the double foot can can and then going over the bars at Millville, if he broke his collar bone or worse? Same with Chad Reed ( Chadapult) Trey Canard being landed on, Jason Anderson..
There are so many what if things would have been worse..
Now there are also what if things could have been better...
All in all I think more eyes on the sport is better. Regardless of the reason..
there will always be racing for us die hard fans
But if that bike would have ended up in the stands, like it almost did- and somebody got seriously hurt because of side show type shit, it would have been a bad scene.
As a long time industry guy, that's my point of view.
Everybody is entitled to their own.
However, I urge you to watch this video of the situation, while it doesn't have the best view of it, you can easily see that the bike never went high enough to get into the crowd and never even went in that direction, which I can almost guarantee wasn't done on accident. Not mention the bike hit the camera boom which isn't even as high as the stands. The angle from the TV broadcast really exaggerated this in my opinion.

Well, with all the no touch AMA/FIM crap, and the WADA u no take an aspirin crap, and the be clean as a Dungey
mantra, and the live like JLaw doom and gloom warnings, it's no wonder this sport is getting very boring to the masses.
Face it. Take away the rough riding. Take away renegade I don't give a fuck riders. Take away the close, in your face
conflict that the masses recognize, and you're left with a few die hard guys that can, and do, appreciate the finer points of this sport.
If you're okay with 2 or 3 thousand diehards showing up for each national, to watch a strong factory team and rider
win by 58 seconds, alone, the future is here.
See you at the races. All of them.
Oh, wait- no I won't.
Pit Row
I'll be at every round. Scared.
Pretty good turn out, by the way!
Its sad and pathetic that people think an exhibition race between Ronnie Mac and a fat Ricky Carmichael is "ruining the sport" LOL. Neither of these guys even race.
It's about fun and entertainment.
So many kill joys in here
I cannot fathom why a made-up character like Ronnie Mac would ever do something as stupid as ghost ride a bike!!
I like my motocross like I like my sex - boring and short. I dont want to have to be entertained by a little bit of a tomfoolery now and then, this is motoxross for gosh darn sakes!! Its an embarassment to the landmark of out historic sport to have a scripted, for-fun type of race like this one!!
/s
Gimme a fukin break. Yes of course this was a scripted race. Ronnie mac is a made up character! Yall act like this is going to just destroy motocross.
It is entertaining but far more STUPID than entertaining. I would call it “A SAD LAUGH”.....as we get a firsthand look at how they will take more money from racers and give to clowns. RC and the idiot probably got more money than all of the riders combined!
Perhaps goon racing would be better too?
