I bought a new motorcycle, but it came with a kickstand

Yeah, I felt a little guilty getting it so dirty haha but it was fun. The place we ended up riding was not our first choice, but we got about halfway there only to realize I forgot my boots Pinch so ended up somewhere closer, not as fun. But, the bike is definitely badass! Can't wait to ride it more.

Hell yeah!

If you need any more reassurance that you can haul ass and be cool with a kickstand....EnduroGP and ISDE guys all run kickstands, that means MXdN Champion Christophe Charlier spends most his year with a kickstand on his bike....

Kickstands are sweet, new bikes are sweet.

Sweet thread.

Sweet bike!

I bought a kickstand for my KX450...I love the kickstand. I think they should come on all bikes...never had even one issue with it flipping around or ever getting in the way...everything from moto track, to 5th gear whoops across the desert, to major G-outs in the desert.

My brother just bought that same bike (coming off a YZ450). He frikkin loves it! He did put a lectron carb on it and that made a huge improvement. And he put an IMS tank on it, hand guards, and a skid plate...Otherwise he’s running stock suspension, not even a re-valve, and has made no other changes. He’s a very fast A rider in the desert (for reference...).

I’m 99% certain it will be my next bike...if it had an e-start I’d be 100% certain.
What kind of improvements did the lectron make? I'm gonna try the JD needle first since I already have it. Badass tho, you should definitely get one Smile

Nice! Kick stand looks pretty convenient. I'm trying to decide between a yz or a 450. I'll be buying used, though.

JD jet kit, gytr flywheel, non ethanol 93 and dominator at 50-1. Ran that for two years on my 250x racing vet a woods and practicing moto with no issues. Just got rid of my 16 only to buy a 2018. Definitely the jack of all trades motorcycle.

And I did get rid of the kickstand just because I didn't wanna catch any grief from the moto crowd while practicing. Whatever you do, don't run high octane gas. The low compression head does funny stuff with race gas. 93 is all you need.

Yep. Swapped it all around and always ended up with jd's recommended setting with red needle in 3rd clip, 45 pilot and 172 main. JDs settings are on point

Kickstands in the 70's early 80's were a real issue, to a point where rules were in place to remove them in mx.

today. much improved product and some of the aftermarket side stands are pretty sweet.

having a side stand works today, which reminds me to get one ordered for my a/f.

good to also see that yamaha made a woods ready bike. many around here like them a lot.

Love those blue rims. Do the X models come with generators for lights?
Nah, optional extra I'm afraid...Tongue

I played with everything and stock is best on the sprockets too. I'm 200lbs and it has more than enough to get me over anything I wanna jump.

Sweet, cool to hear. I'll probably try a different sprocket combo or two for fun.

On the kickstand thing....I know years ago they outlawed them at the tracks around here. Something about a few riders getting harpooned during some wrecks.

A triangle works great at the track though. Smile

Sorry to bump, but I've been running 100LL with BelRay SI7 two stroke synthetic oil for 3 years now in my 13 Yz250. The 2 stroke definitely likes it. This is contrary to what Taco says but I won't be using anything different. As far as I know, 100LL doesn't have any ethanol in it but maybe someone can confirm that.

I race off road so I run a flywheel weight and tacked on the V Force Reeds. Never have any problems there. Love the bike.

Right, but this is a 250x. Lower compression ratio. I'm pretty sure that's what Taco was getting at.

Oh I'm an idiot. I see now. I didn't realize they made a different compression 250 2 stroke. That's interesting. What is the benefit of the lower compression?

Had kind of a weird thing happen today.

Went up to about 5k elevation with stock jetting. I was gonna do one more "break in" ride with the richer settings then re-jet. I started it up, choke on for about 30 seconds, turned it off and started to apply some throttle blips. Then suddenly it died and wouldn't restart. Pulled the plug and it looked fine, but we took a lighter to it anyway and tried to maybe burn some shit off.

No luck.

So then I tried to bump start it and that didn't work either. Then I went to kick it again (one last effort before I had to push it up the hill) and it came back to life? Then didn't have a problem the rest of the day. I rejetted and started first kick all day. Sometimes halfway thru the stroke.

What gives? Very bizarre, especially for a brand new bike.

A terrible thing happens when an iPhone sends a video to an Android so I apologize for the quality, but here is proof that it ran and that I ride sometimes when I'm not hammered watching SX
