And you guys are saying podium or top five over those guys? It's not Matterly Mud Basin, and he will be safe at home long before A1.

Top 10 in this good field would already be solid but no doubt his corner speed, almost roczen/herlings like, could improve the results if racing sx regularly. The starts will be key in 10 laps races. I just hope he doesn't get too excited and stay on 2 wheels. 7 - 12 - 6 for 8th overall ?

I think he can beat them, but needs to start front of them. Gajser beat Dungey, Musquin & rest of the pack straight up at the first race in SMX Cup last year and put down the fastest lap the whole event, so he has the speed and with good start he definitely can win.
Have to remember that was probably the furthest thing from an SX track without it being an actual motocross track, I mean it was sand..

one thing i know for sure.......tim gajser will give its best effort despite what happens and what result he will have in each race.
i get that it is an american thing that when you feel that you can't win you just quit and don't compete anymore, many americans feel like that, from what i see here and you just proved yourself.......but tim is not like that, he is a racer and will always race, just like he did in mxgp start of the season, where he was hurt and had to give up on defending his title......he could just stopped and waited home for the new year, but instead e raced himself to form again and ended the year with wins.......
so i guess you should be the one quitting, quitting to disrespect a great racer, world champion and with the courage to came and compete in a race out of his comfort zone......my advice goes to you and all others here that suffer from the stars and stripes virus.......enjoy the racing, forget where they were born !!!!! or go back to those js7 topics, they suit you much better.......

he doesn't have to test for its main objective sx series that start in january.....
mxgp racers are now either on vacation or doing the one off sx races that are run around the world.....
their pre-season starts during january and mxgp starts in march....
so you missed the target completely, i get what you were trying to say, but its a way different ball game if you race in america....

I didn't pull any punches at Tim, he's a world champion but has no sx experience. It reasonable to say he won't get race wins. I never once mentioned he would quit. I hope he does well and I hope it lights a fire under him to decide to come here full time it would be great to see him and others come.

If you are referring to the stand in the pit and sit/stand in the bike during the race I was making a joke about how the title of the thread was written. Meaning "where will tim gajser stand" I took the route of saying physical location instead of finishing position.

Here's something that will really fire you up, Portugal finished 16th this year at the MXDN. 7 places behind the good ole U.S.A who had 2 DNFs. Now you have a reason to be butt hurt. Courtesy of the U.S.A

Ride 30 smart laps, stay in comfort zone, do not jump over the handlebars over a triple, and stay out of the hospital. He would be a winner in my book if he could pull all of this off.

Well the MXGP season starts in February so there's not a huge difference.
It's not like the Americans start training in september and the euros are laying on the beach somewhere for 3 months.
They have a few weeks off now and then they start training in november at the latest. In the beginning of January most of them are already doing national championships

I don't see anyone but Tomac, Anderson and Musquin beating Gajser. Again, I'm guessing 3rd to 5th.

I think he has enough talent to ride the track at competitive speed experience or not he can figure it out.
However being his first American supercross experience he will have to find bike set up, maybe not as crucial considering there are no whoops. Then you have to consider the pace. This isn't an average sx race, these races are short pure flat out sprints. If he can match sprint speed I just don't think he will be comfortable enough to hold it for 10 laps. Tomac, Anderson, musquin, barcia, Bogle, tickle, dean Wilson, Christian Craig, josh grant. All these riders have good speed and know the pace.

IMO he has a good chance of winning, at the manufacturers cup thing they did last year, he ran faster lap times than Dungey. And with him most likely getting 3 good starts, also being familiar with the starting grate, I think he stands as good a chance as anyone.

MEC isn't a real SX track either. It's definitely closer than the SMX track was though.

Start in front of them?? What are you thinking, 1/4 lap, half lap??

You all are killing me with bold predictions for him. It is not about the track or how well he did at the non-MEC cup last year, or whatever. His main problem preventing a podium is going to be all the racers who are used to MEC and SX that will be right beside him at the gate drop.

Besides hanging on Roczen, Musquin and Noren's coattails, this is the last Euro chance for bragging, so enjoy it while you can.
