I want Team GB to win of course but failing that (which seems extremely probable) I actually hope Team USA gets it. All likeable guys who stepped up when asked, not superstars but workhorses. Podium material for sure, and perhaps the win if the dice rolls in their favour - which after last years craziness you could argue they're due.
Don't upset Jeffro, bro. It's your own country or nothing!
Haha....what? Who's upset? I'm just happy were sending a team. It's not a strong team except for Zach....but I'll be cheering for them at 4am in the morning , like I do every year.

It's pretty important to win the MX2 class, puts the pressure on. If I had to guess I'd say the winning team more often than not had the winning tiddler bike.
For some reason a lot of people think this, but go look through the recent results and you'll see that not too often has the MX2 rider of the winning team won, or even done that well. I'm on my phone otherwise I'd be more specific but...

2016 Paturel
2014 Ferrandis
2013 V Horebeek
2011 Baggett
2010 Canard
2009 Weiner

2015 and 2012 are Musquin and Roczen but otherwise i don't think there is any more significance placed on the MX2 riders results than Mx1 or Open. 5 results is the key (obviously), wherever they come from, and I think the USA trio are just as capable as any team to do that, in what is a pretty wide open field

Sending a team that doesn't have a 450 Moto winner and the top guy being a 10yr pro that's just now finally winning in the 250 class as the main guy / captain is just a little strange and something for everyone to get used to because it's how it's gonna be going fwd.

Covington will come thru.

Exactly. Somehow I think this is USA's year. What's weird is that every year we all seem to forget how much this race is down to good fortune. Remember how close the Netherlands came last year? Who had them for the win???

Zach better get better starts than he has been outdoors or he wont be winning that class.

we would have won if not in the very last lap , febvre passed Searle in the last few corners and we lost with a single point Evil

results moto 1 Coldenhoff 6 Bogers 20
moto 2 Herlings 2 Bogers 14
moto 3 Herlings 1 Coldenhoff 7

if you look at those results , you would not expect to battle for the MXON win

AND......if Jason didn't get landed on and knocked out after he won....OR....if Cooper wouldn't have tipped over , we coulda taken it.

Bunch of variables in that race.

Strong team....should be right there batting with our arch-nemesis Puerto Rico.
8/13/2017 3:19am
Covington ?? Very inconsistent in the 250 class and expected to jump up to a 450 and put in a solid performance at the highest pressure race of the year ??? Am I missing something? He must have some dirt on Decoster lol

hahaha yeah i know , just pointing out anything can happen as the dutch were anything but a favorite to win , hey its smarty Jeffro again...

Did I use Herlings his crash as a excuse ? nope

my last line was

that was my point

It's a vert good and valid point. There's less than a handful of teams who have 3 solid riders. The United States being one of them. With a little bit of luck, any one of those handful of teams can win it.

Unsuprisingly straight over your head!

I guess you only get pissed off when people root against Team USA? Usually it's the world is against you, support your own country, shut the hell up if they're not beating us, don't hope or want anyone else to win. Oh the irony!

Alas Team USA is a strong team in my book, admittedly not the strongest but podium threat and could end up on the top step because most teams can't field three strong riders. Sure Covington is an interesting pick but you only need one good moto from him, Osbourne will be a god dam American hero and Seeley is solid, I think he'll step up and surprise!

Haven't read all 3 pages of this thread so my apologies if this sentiment has already been expressed but I'll take 3 blue collar guys with heart and desire that want to be there over a team of superstars that feel "inconvenienced" any day and twice on Sunday.

Pfft!....haha. I don't know why some of you idiots think I get pissed.

You Brit's are like human Chihuahua's. Laughing All bark , no bite. About a half dozen of you on here that talk mad shit , towards the American riders on a normal basis. You don't see many guys from France , or Belgium , Italy , ect talking out their asses like the Brit's. Oh no , the Brit's will talk major shit on teams that year after year fight for wins and podium spots.

Hopefully all your riders aren't color blind , cause they are going to need to see that blue flag for getting the fuck out of the way. And just like some of the other hardcore GP fans , make sure you cheer for every team " except " America , and leach off their success. Since you're a Brit....you will probably be cheering for team France , Belgium , Germany , Italy , ect.....

You'll need too......

I'm hoping for our guys to podium , even though I guess this would be called the " C " team? I'll also be cheering for the Brit's to crack top 10. Wink

AND....you can believe this or not.....I love the Brit's! I truly do , but a few of you on here get a little carried away.

Jiffro,
Whats your beef with the British? , your girlfriend or more probably boyfriend run off with a Brit?
We don't "hate " on any US riders only take exception to rabid American fans who tell us American riders are the best, the fastest, and diss our British riders with stupid comments like " they had better get used to seeing the blue flag waving when being lapped!"
If you remember back to Lommel it was an American rider, who is now vying for your 450 MX title who got lapped in both his races! , but don't let facts get in the way of your jingolistic rants.

Look Rob....I don't have anything against the Brit's. In fact I dig them a bunch. I'm saying there are a few on here that love to talk out their ass , stir the pot and just down right be assholes. YOU....can be one of them! As far as the British people , the country , their riders and so forth , I totally dig them. They aren't the ones on here talking mad shit. And again....you don't see much shit talk from much of any other countries from over there. But damn!....You Brit's can bring it!

Well I'm not sure yet. I went down to the USGP in 2015. I'd like to go to the mxon next year if it happens. I'm not sure where it's actually happening yet.

We don't 'think' you get pissed Jeffro, we 'know' bro. It's pretty evident you're a sensitive snowflake.

But if your barometer for 'shit talking' on teams at the MXdN is Vital though, you're way off base. You've probably not left your borders but there's a little thing called the language barrier and that's largely the reason they're not so prevalent here, law of averages and all that! It isn't just exclusive to Brit's though and you can bet your bottom dollar on that - trust me! I've witnessed many Europeans wanting to see Team USA lose over the years! Barcia getting stuck in the barrier at Lommel was a classic example, revving the shit out of his bike, having an absolute hissy fit; everyone cheered and was laughing at your American hero failing - it felt like the whole of Europe was taking great delight in it and that was before Superman 'Sun' came to his aid. Watching them both struggle seemed like pure comedy for many of the fans watching!

Alas and even by your standards you're sowing the old 'C- Team' excuse early Jeffro? The classic caveat. I guess you've got to find some solace in the face of potential defeat eh!. Don't worry bro it gets easier, as a Brit I know. Alas, if your C/B-Team couldn't lap our lads last year, I doubt it'll happen at Matterley Basin with the home crowd behind them.

Wink

Even funnier for us Brits that's it's been Americans getting blue flagged in recent Mxdn . An FIM official at Lommel MXDN 2012 told me it was the highlight of his season having to wave his blue flag at lapper Blake Baggett in both Moto's.
If you still don't believe this happened, I have photos on another hard drive of Herlings pulling about 30 yards on Blake through just one corner to prove this happened!Blush

Dungey was a couple of corners away to be lapped by Cairoli. Saved by the checkered flag...

A highlight for a guy for the season was waving the blue flag at Blake?

That's pretty sad to be honest.
