My 12 year old has been working on his ramp whips. Getting pretty close now needs to get them flatter-

"Probably should work on corners" translates to "I cant do that" in Haterish

That's awesome, and don't let anyone tell you different! No way would I have had the testicular mass to pull that off at 12, that's way cool and he has good style as well. Vitards are butt hurt because they wouldn't even hit the ramp!Laughing

He is plenty fast in corners, lol. Moto is about fun for us. Breaking up the day with ramp sessions makes riding more fun. We also have a pretty decent track for practice.

Corners for dough cracks me up. Ain't no dough in MX......

Love watching your boys progress.

And to the guy talking about corners, his kids rail those too.

That is very cool. How can you not be proud of your boy?

By the way, the slow motion did not "ruin" the video.

He'll look back on these times kinda like some of us in the BMX thread (or any of us for MX, or whatever)!

Good times, good times!

If I could do a whip at that age I would have been on top of the world. Keep it up!

Agreed, very cool! And I'm sure you probably already know this but I think whipping and scrubbing skills has become more important as the sport has progressed - it's not just for looks. Sure cornering is still very important, but being able to take inside lines through corners (shorter path) and carry enough speed for scrubbing jumps (staying low on jumps) into and out of corners is very valuable. Its gets the power to the ground faster. When trying to shave seconds on lap times and competing against competition that can hit all the jumps, the fastest guys are staying lower on jumps AND cornering.

Again, very cool vid.

This is perfect, some of my finest days riding are spent just enjoying the track and pushing my own personal fitness and technical limits

Nice style!Cool
I think it is extremely important to spend some time practicing jumps, whether it be singles, tabletops (single to table) Whistling big or small.

I will have him work on those lol. He wanted try Nacnacs last year on his 65 and about 10 tries later had him ok-

NacNac

Thanks everyone. What can I say my kids love to jump? However, the try and stay within their abilities and we discuss risk/reward ratios on big stuff. We take bit different path that many. My boys are relatively fast (both top local B riders) but don't take it too seriously & I don't push them other than to try and do their best. It's just a hobby.

Jeff, keep in touch or if you see us at the track drop by 228 Honda, 428 Kawasaki & 728 KTM/Husky. Hitting Washougal on Sunday I think.

My older one throwing his 125 around for the 2-stroke lovers-

Tues stroke Tuesday

Maybe "ruin" was the wrong word to use . It was incredibly cool to see little dude hit the ramp with dad watching .

I get what you are saying. It's Instagram that ruins it mostly because I am crappy at editing. The original quality is so much cleaner. It's hard to tell how it's gonna look until you upload & slo mo can really aggravate it..............

I'll keep an eye out Giles. I'll be on my 125 at mtn view all day Sunday. Hoping to hit Albany next weekend if the weather cooperates. I'll try and get over to PIR one of these nights , just working some long days.

Awesome!! Ramps are fun and can be a useful mental tool as you can slide them up close to the landing, and the more you get used to it, work it back to the proper distance. There are very few, if any, jumps on amateur tracks that will throw you as high as a ramp will so if you get comfortable being 30+ feet in the air then track jumps no long become as intimidating....they do suck crashing on though!! Good stuff!!
