I didn't see this posted anywhere and I thought it was worth pointing out.

I was recently told that his mechanic may not have warned him Zach-O was coming, instead his pit board on the last lap said "2017 Champ!"

Anyone confirm? Seems like a big mistake...

I have no idea if it's true or not but if it is, in fairness to the mechanic, I don't think anyone knew he was coming that fast. I was watching on TV and in the corner after the first set of whoops (the one just before he caught him), I said to my buddy "damn, he's not close enough" and then one whoop pad later, WHAMMY!

I can't believe they fined Osborne. I think any racer would've done the same thing. Even Dungey!

No worries, I hadn't seen the pitboard pics or knew anything about it. It was inferred to me that they(PC) were too busy counting their eggs that they didn't notice Zach coming so fast so Joey had no idea he was about to get knocked the f**k out...

I've watched the last lap several times. Joey appeared like he was cruising and had no idea Zach was coming. The mechanic really failed his rider on this one.

That was a total meltdown on the part of the mechanic/team spotters. Like you guys, I didn't see any sense of urgency on Joey's part on that last lap. The line he took in that corner tells me that he truly didn't realize Zack was there. Glad he said what he did about doing the same thing were the tables turned. Many here have said that over the last few days, but it has fallen on deaf ears.

Pretty cool of Savatchy to say that.

Zach made up a SHIT load of time in the last lap or so. He was still about 10 seconds behind Savatchy until what seemed like maybe 3 laps to go. I remember thinking well, that is it, no way he is going to catch him, then BAM! all of the sudden he was right there!

Remember where the mechanic's area was on this track. It was coming back down the start straight towards the finish line. I'd bet the mechanic had something different on his board the lap before.

I think Joey just fell apart.

Everyone needs to give the Zach O portion of the pulpmx podcast a listen, from last night. It's impossible not to be a fan. Zach is the man! I was around him quite a bit when he was on Mini's and racing D13/D29 races. Super happy for him to finally get a championship. He has worked hard his whole life for this. Hard not to be happy for him and his family! I just can't believe they would fine him for that pass.

Joey should have been able to see where Zach was as the laps started to wind down. Joey was going up a lane as Zach was starting to come down the opposite way. With two laps to go he should have had some awareness that his speed was too slow and Zach was closing the gap quickly. If he did not see this happening then he just has poor vision and situational awareness.

You can bet your ass that Zach saw where he was pretty much each lap after the half way point.

At some point Joey should have been able to notice that oh yeah that white bike that keeps closing on me is Zach. Better wick it up a bit.

How many times do we hear winners say how they just keep the pace and same gap over second.

These guys know who's who, and who's coming.

Zach had probably one of the greatest comebacks I have ever seen. And conversely, Joey had the biggest meltdown I've ever seen. With two laps to go Zach was still a mile behind. But he was closing the gap very fast. You could see it on the TV and we had very poor angles. You can't tell me that Joey didn't know he was closing.

I genuinely don't think Joey realized how close Zach was. Hell, the second to last whoop section, Joey was exiting as Zach was entering, and Zach even admitted to launching the whoops and went borderline overboard. You can see the surprise in Joey's reaction when he picked himself up off the ground. It was almost like he thought an overzealous lapper took him out or something.

Your point remains though, Joey shouldn't have even been remotely in the area that Zach was at any point in the race after Zach landed on the ground out of the gate. Joey shouldn't have been anywhere near that close in points to Zach. Just a huge botch job by Joey all around.

The last time Savatgy went by the pit board, Zach wasn't that close and the decision was probably made to not warn Savatgy because he was having trouble already that race. No need to get him to push harder and risk a crash for ( I assume ) what they thought was nothing to worry about.
If you watch the last lap, you can see Zach riding 110%. In his mind it was either crash or pass Savatgy. Win or Lose. All or Nothing

Nobody though Zach could close that gap so fast and Joey was floundering , it's just a crazy chain of events that could have went 10 different ways.

The last half lap of the race Joey should have seen what was coming. Heck the corner before those last whoops Zach was all over him. He took about a poor as a line into that turn as you could. Went up the inside of whoops and then went wide in the corner. Just begging to be taken out.

Granted by that point he did not have a lot of options. But he really left himself wide open. Better to be the hunter then the hunted isn't it.

I don't see it as the mechanics fault. Ozzy was so far behind, even starting on the last lap, that there should have been no way he would have passed Joey.
