Contingency

What do you guys think about a minimum rider requirement to get paid for a contengincy race?

If you go to a race specifically for the fact you can win enough to make it a "free" weekend of racing and there aren't enough people, you get screwed. You can't control how many people show up; all you can do is show up and hope there's enough.

Just a little butt hurt because I didn't get paid since there was one too few people in my class..

Personally I don't even show up to a race unless Im guaranteed $100,000,000.00

Its bullshit that we have to PAY actual MONEY to do this sport and not having everything just handed to us.

I am angry!! Government needs to subsidize motocross!!

This. When I was growing up people would ask me ,"Do you ever win any money?" And I would always respond," Do you win money when you play little league baseball? Football?".. Contingency money was nice, bet I never brought it up..

I think it's 5 or use to be something like that. Ran into that problem years ago. Luckily the promoter was cool enough to make sure everything was covered. We ask about it and he said he would take care of it don't worry. Hell I was about to go sign my dad up and have him roll around for a few laps on my other bike.

It sucks but I feel a little sheepish collecting money from them in the first place for some reason. I lost out on 100 bucks last weekend from Yamaha cause only 4 old fat bastards showed up instead of 5. They also won't pay you for multiple classes run if they are on the same machine. boohoo.

So you actually can get paid to race! Notice I didn't say "make money" I said, "get paid".

I race the WORCS series in the over 50 Armature class and I consistently make $200-$300 a race
KTM contingency up to $150 dollars
Maxxis tire contingency up to $100 dollars

and smaller amounts or free or discounted products from other sponsors. If your racing a whole series anywhere theres a good chance your leaving money on the table.
