Wow
Forgot how good this was. BEST EVER!
Gary Semics turned me on to this. He convinced me and I still believe it this best cardio workout on the planet.
When I was training for LL's - +35 class, some 15 years ago, I could do level 4 for 25 minutes.... no problem.....every night inside my garage with no fan 90 degrees. (2 MOTOS) Quite the wet mess. I actually got to level 5 (I think 6) before one of the LL's. (Yes 25 minutes - 20 minutes +2 laps)

Just tried tonight
3 minutes at level 3 - done,

But I did 2 motos!

They are cheap now. Try it out.

I honestly had no idea what you were talking about before looking it up. I was imagining some kind of crazy futuristic contraption I haven't heard of at first. Lol Being from Ohio and having pretty harsh winters(sometimes) I spent alot of time on one of these and they can be brutal. It's right up there with a rower which I preferred more bc it seemed to help strengthen my back, especially my lower back which we all know takes alot of pain and abuse in our sport.

One thing I used to do to prepare for LL's was wear thermal underwear under my gear or put a sweat shirt on over my jersey. Ohio summers are often just as hot and muggy as nationals week but usually not until later in the year after LL's is over. I think it was Jeff Gibson I seen doing this on practice days and figured he may be on to something looking at his results. Seemed to help with the weather but not with my luck luck!

Been using the air dyne for years! Bought my first one used for 100.00... When I was doing GNCC"s, I would do minimum of 1 hr on it, with multiple stand up sprints....bought a brand new one a 5 years ago, still use it......

No way I could sit on that thing for that long. I usually do 5x1min at a level 9 with 30 seconds rest. Then 5x30sec at a level 11 with 30 seconds rest. Worst 12 mins of my life lol.

Concept 2 rower (or any erg) offers a similar workout, and is more similar to a riding stance. Airdine was pretty cool though and probably much cheaper than a rower.

You're right Teggers, used one for rehab almost 20 years ago and bought one for home after, still on it a few days a week

I do intervals combining both, Airdyne for push and the rower for pull.

I've always wanted to try one. Seems like rowers are more popular now with the advent of Crossfit. I have a spin bike but there isn't a good way to measure the resistance since you just turn the dial.

Little over 10 years ago I got my airdyne . Usually do 30-45 min motos wide open at 10k rpm. That's around 21/22 mph on mine. Some days I'm only able to do around 8k rpm. Did look new when I got her. Had around 650 miles when I got it. In the middle of moving right now so she's getting no action.

I started racing mountain bikes last year. Guys that race and don't live near a gym use those for winter training. Check out zwift if you get bored. You still need to ride the moto bike, but you won't be breathing very hard..

The assault bike is the newer version of the Airdybe and what most Crossfit gyms (including the one I work at) use. Its built a little better than the new ones and turns a lower RPM that makes it a bit more difficult. But I agree, the Assault/Airdyne trumps almost any form of cardio lol

anyone get the new one that has a screen/. like your riding that road or in a class looking at the instructor. I'm sure its stupid $$. but thought it looked cool and would pass the winters.

We have airdynes, rowers and now ski-ergs at work. Love all three. That ski erg is evil for a 5k
