That's my Dad's restored 67 Ford Country Squire, we actually drove it to the dealership the day I bought the bike. Now the bike is sitting in his garage with all of his toys until I can get it back to Michigan with my truck in the next few weeks Cool .

I keep a couple old school 125s around to remind me when I was young and skinny but ride my modern YZ 250 or my old 430, 440 or 500 smokers.
They Need to bring the 125 class back to Nationals. No better sound than 40 screaming Bees

I switched back from 450 to 125 earlier this year. No regrets whatsoever, amd Im pretty sure that the few seconds every I give up in my start and "squirrel lap" I get back later in the moto. My laptimes reflect that I get faster through the moto, and I like that feeling much more than just surviving on the 450.

Been riding my 2016 YZ250X for the past year. Been a total blast out in the desert, but I actually really want to get a 125 to mess around with at the track...

Everyone thinks I've been dropping my weight (getting in shape) just to be healthy. I mean, thats nice obviously, but I'm doing it so I'm not over 200lbs on a 125! Silly

It seems that down here there is always a small two stroke population no matter where I go. Last week I had 2 young teens on a KTM 150 and 125 approach me in pits and ask how they could improve their corner speed since they saw me out on my YZ125. 2 weeks ago I showed this kid where his air screw was and how to kick his bike over without dropping his right elbow and hitting the throttle! They were good kids.

Later a dad of 2 young guys riding 250Fs stopped me as I was loading up. I heard "So you don't like fourstrokes?". I was like what? He was cool though, he was very complementary on my riding and just kept saying I would be even faster on a fourstroke. Told him my plan was to get a 250 smoker next year, he wasn't impressed lol. I guess everyone has their own agenda haha.

Anyways its always cool with the two stroke guys at the track as well. I have a lot of conversations with young and old riders talking about smokers and how much they love em. Definitely a good twostroke scene down here in North TX.
He was probably a Honda representative.

Please tell me about how the 88, 91 and 06 RM compare to the 83. I've always wanted to know if they really got better in he late 80s and early 90s. I had an 81 and now ride an 05 with an Eric Gorr 144 engine.

I'll tell you this. I bought a brand new leftover 2015 TC250 and loved it. Re-valved the suspension, and kept it stock. I bought a 2003 CR125. Put a EG 134 kit, exhaust, carbon fiber reeds, and brand new motor rebuild. I ride my CR125 more and feel more comfortable on it. I love my 250 2t but it I have much more fun on my CR125 than I do my Husqvarna. I feel stupid now because I bought a brand new bike I barely ride. I think I might just pay my TC250 off to $4000 then sell it to buy a KTM150 Unsure

Alright PitRacer, I don't have to "quote" your entire post with pictures and text. But I do want to give you a high five, fist bump and an amen in regards to your collection.Smile
That is a mighty fine herd of bikes you have in your stable!
Well done.

Picked this beauty up last year. Added a Pro Circuit shorty, Eric Gorr 144, and a bunch of compression. She is all go no show, but I have a blast on it. I could not imagine only owning a small bore though...I still love my 4 fiddy on the track ...and my 250 smoker for the tight trails.

I have had my 2005 Yamaha YZ-125 for 12 years now. It is one of the best bikes I have ever owned. It is very fast, light weight, handles well, easy to modify, and so simple and inexpensive to maintain. I guess I was 125 before 125 was cool. I am "Old School" because 125's have always been in my garage since I was a kid back in the 70's. I am "wfo4ever"!!!

Are those the stock forks or did you do the SSS swap?

I have an 05 and I really hate the forks.
Those are the stock 05 forks. I had Ohlins do a complete fork rebuild, with revalve, springs, and a new Ohlins rear shock, revalved with a new Ohlins spring for my weight. Thought of doing the SSS swap but after riding a newer one with SSS forks, decided my forks done by Ohlins were good enough for me. What all is needed to change to the newer "SSS" forks on a 2005 YZ-125? I found another 05 for a good price, might just pick it up for my son and do the "SSS" swap for him. I appreciate any info. Thanks.

I've read a bit about it and from what I've gathered you have to do the whole front end. So I guess it could be a little pricey. I've been thinking about doing a revalve as well, just have to pick the right place to do it. Glad you are having success with them!

Can't beat it. I bought a 250 sx to be competitive on race day, but I still long for a 125 on practice day.

I don't like 125's any more than I ever have, but I manage to keep a couple around. Hands down, the best starter bikes for newbs....or for my wife to kick around on once in awhile:
