Honestly, Daytona is kind of a shitty race.. the track is weird, apparently there's lawyers that dictate how the track is put together, and it seems like anything goes in terms of how the overall event is structured. Is this because this particular race is run and promoted by Honda and other organizations instead of the usual people?

Not sure why any of you are bashing JA for posting this. Yes, we know there are bigger problems in this world and this is a first world problem. You guys complaining about a motocrosser expressing his displeasure with poor communication in his place of employment is no different than you guys complaining about it on a first world motocross message board. His complaint is way more valid though.

No, I haven't been. I'm sure the environment is awesome, but I'm not a fan of the track itself. There's too many restrictions on what they can do (no long straightaways, having to put a lot of turns in etc.), and it looks like they're getting less space to work with every year. Look at the shape of the overal track on the track map! It's long and skinny with a lot of space on the sides of the track unused. And yes, lawyers. According to what I've read on here, there have been a lot of people that said lawyers are putting restrictions due to liabilities on what they can do with the track. Love how anyone who has a dissenting opinion is a "vitard". Awesome.

Start a riders union or association and get your voices heard. If not, suck it up and ride your bike.
Truth.

Long and skinny with a lot of space on the sides? Go to a Daytona once. The track is up against the pavement on the NASCAR track side and pretty much on the pavement on the pit side. Example, 05, Ricky crashes in the whoops and ends up on the NASCAR track. Look at the infield with no track built. It's long and skinny. I'm not sure what more you want?

Don't sweat it.
Remember, these are some of the same people trapped in the glory days of 80's moto.

Surprised to see Anderson complaining about a couple more laps. He usually finishes the races pretty strong, doesn't he? This could be to his advantage. I bet Tomac isn't complaining.

I didn't see JA's comment as complaining at all, I see it as him saying he would have liked communication earlier regarding the changes.

Seems like an opportunity to complain (without doing anything about it). The changes to the race format from laps to timed for this season should have been communicated to the riders and teams clearer perhaps that this didn't include Daytona. Assuming it wasn't obviously based on his response.

YEP.....and could be a pretty knarly race for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see it around the 23-24 minute mark when it's all done. It looks like a longer layout , but maybe I'm wrong on that. Should be interesting.

Eli , Ryan and Blake....have their names written all over this one I think too.

Is this the first time JA has ever done 20 laps at Daytona?

Anderson has raced the last two years in the 450 class at Daytona. 7th in 2015 and 4th in 2016.

The intensity in SX is way higher. I don't know if you ride but use a heart monitor and do a 20 min moto on a normal MX track and do a 15 min moto on a tight AX track(or SX if you have the skills for it) and take a look at the heartbeat.

It will probably a big difference.

Great news, I love Daytona being a longer race with a mix of outdoors. Nice to have a change of scenery in the middle of the season!

Glad they did this. I assumed the lap times would at least be over a minute.

Jason there are greater problems in the world than you having to run 20 laps. Give me a break. These guys have no clue about reality.
if Chad Reed would have said this, you would be saying how badass he is for sticking up to the man.

it was in the 80's when the 20 laps would last 30 minutes....the track crossed pit road near turn one of the road course and went behind the wall...it was actually pretty cool....

I believe Jason's comments were in regards to the lack of communication between the promoting group and the teams/riders on the issue.

The Fans: "It's sad how little the riders make, they should speak up."
The riders speaks up.
The Fans: "Riders should the fuck up!"

Get out of here with that, "we don't need your input", bullshit. Good to know that this forum is not only filled with people who snap at celebrities for speaking out about shit we perceive that they don't understand because they're celebrities but it is also filled with people who snap at athletes speaking out directly against the sport they are involved in.

But yeah, fuck Jason, he's just a product who does what we want him to do and he has to be happy about it and he has to keep his mouth shut. Ignore the fact that we're all talking about how much we would change this sport, make this better, bitch about what we hate all day long but despite the fact that 2/3rds of this forum wouldn't even roll a SX track let alone race one we know what's best for the riders and the sport.

Bunch'a hypocrites.

Seems like honda flexing muscles. Why change for one race? I agree its better for fans but honestly it will just stretch tomacs lead to a full minute!!!!! Ill die if seely has lead and tomac gets a bad start and catches him the last lap. It will be a big fu to honda
