This is a concern
I was told that the trick to starting these bikes is giving it ZERO throttle. I think cracking the throttle also causes the kick back.
Thats dead right! Those maps I would think will be rich off the bottom , aggressive will be leaner hence being snappy. Good info on maps...

I'm thinking I'm just going to get mine straight on the hrc turning kit and clean up the maps. A freind who is a top rider ' in nz rode the rx and said it's jearky off the bottom so is the r some say.
I'm also going to look into Tokyo mods remap?
yes the bottom end isnt too smooth compared to others, however as you say good mapping cleans this up and also helps starting....plus adds some power

Fuel injected bikes you do not need to give throttle. They say its a 2 - 3 kick process for all FI bikes. 1 or 2 kicks to fuel and 1 to fire. My 17' started super easy with zero effort on 2 kicks if wasnt on the 1st. Way easier to kick then my 09 or my 13
My 17 is way easier to kick start then my 13 as well.. This past weekend, my 17 had not been started in about 3 weeks, started first kick and I barely kicked it.. DAMN

My was the first one to get to my dealer in December and it's the easiest bike to start. It will start cold, Hot and in gear. Just takes a very lite kick.

Wow. Honda 2017 meet Suzuki 2008. Same issue. At least Suzuki gave me a new 2009 engine. Suspect Honda will handle any issue in a similar fashion.

Just saw this happen to a `17 450 Honda last week... not nice!

Mate I had a good chat with city h
They assured me there have been none of these in nz reported at this stage.
I've been told they will look after us and Honda nz will have to its in there best interest. Ofton you see some first year teething problems but these are serious. If it becomes wide spread world wide in time a recall will happen. Not every bike will suffer the same problems . I'm going ahead but I will ride honda 's arse till I get a new 18 if my ones a lemon . Keep this to ourselfs Jason Smile

I've never been a fan of rotella in the transmission side and since these new honda engine and tranny are all in one, I personally, would not use rotella. I've been using Honda GN4 10w40 with no problems.

Finished up my Yosh system and estart Friday. Rode it for the first time on Saturday. Been a long winter waiting to be able to ride this baby after a surgery to fix my hip.

Haha, those are my kids. 7 and 12. I'm a 41 y/o vet A rider. Kids were excited to be riding too!

Ride report is good so far. Power is likable, suspension feels a tad soft. Just breaking in and then we will see what Springs and valving I need.

Mind you I just had my hip replaced Jan 9th so I'm not anywhere near full speed or strength yet. So full report good and bad soon as I'm healed.

I'm 6ft 1in tall at 195lbs so about 185cm tall at 88kg I think?

I used 20mm risers to help alleviate the cramped feeling but it still feels a bit smaller than my 16 did. Time will give better answers. Btw, estart sucks to install. Honda f'd that up. Shouldn't be so much involved in it. I'm the service manager at a Honda shop with lots of racing AND wrenching experience. This Estart kit is not well thought out.

Yes talking to the dealer its a misson .im not going to bother. Sounds like its going to have perfect valving and spring rates for my small frame. What do you make of all the clutch and auto decomp failing and taking out cases hype? Seen any . I've had some good advice and reassurances not to stress .

I would recomend using Honda's own oil, changed my oil after 5 hours, put in the same maxima i have used for ages, at 6hrs the clutch gave in.
Tore it down and it was all clogged up, cleaned it all up and now it works fine
