Mr. Osborne

I think they call you "Mr." after the last two weekends. So excited to see how Zach is riding... very impressive and in control, not to mention class leading speed.

Well deserved.

I totally agree. This has been a long time coming. Happy for the guy. I wonder if his new physical condition has made the difference? Go Zach!

Does Aldon finally turn a non champ into a champ? Nah, I read it's not possible...

0 wins before joining the Bakery.

Still a lot of races to go before we find out for sure.

As expected. He must be pushing like hell during the week to follow these 450 big guns so basically Saturdays must feel like the easiest day of the week. Definitely a favorite for the outdoors too.

How many years has he been in the 250 class? Just curious. Definitely not more then Davalos

Zach has it figured out and is on another level now. Clearly the favorite in my book.

I think the math has to be a little different for Zach since he spent years in MX2.

In the broadcast they said it took him 10 years to get his first win. How many years has Davalos been in the 250 class? 12 years?

Zack is clearly the fitest and fastest that he has ever been. His investment in himself by going to Aldon's is paying off.

Zack left the country for 3 years?

The big question is, if he wins the championship, will he get a 450 ride?

How could he not? It's getting full in the 450 class, but there are a few guys who could probably be moved out.

You have to wonder how much longer Canard is going to keep going? If Zach keeps this going outdoors I can see him being pretty attractive on the big bike for someone.

Just so happy for him, first class guy and after so much time to see all the pieces come together makes for a great story.

I hear ya, hopefully there will be a spot open and the teams don't hold his first couple of years in the pros against him and the fact that he's been in the 250's so long. It seems like once you get a rep in this business it's hard to shake. One thing I will say, he seems to be beating Savatgy better that Coop did last year so far.

I felt that once he got that monkey off his back (first win), he'd get on a roll. Hope he brings this title home!

With luck, the whole "What have you done for me lately," concept might just work in Zach's favour.... you're only as good as your latest results - which this year will be very solid.

I think Savatgy is trying way too hard, Zach is just calm and clinical this year - I wonder where he could have got that from? lol Whistling

Both have been riding the 250 class since 2006. Osborne spent 3 years overseas but still rode the 250 class.

I guess they're tied for longest time in the 250 class.

So why aren't people bagging on Osborne as well? Is it because of those 3 years overseas? Just because we didn't see him stateside for those years doesn't change the fact that he's been in the 250 class for the same amount of time as Davalos.

On top of that he only got his first win in SX this year so it took him longer to get a win than Davalos. According to The Vault Davalos got his first SX win on February 22nd 2014 in Atlanta.

Things that make you go Hmm?

Zach is riding well, he's on a good bike, in shape and benefiting from years of experience his competition doesn't have. Also almost all of his main competition has moved up over the years, and he's racing only half the 250 field in the east west split.

His rookie year was 2006, so this is year number 12 as a professional on a 250. He raced the 250 in MX2 in the GPs in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and did no supercross those years. So this is year number 9 in regional 250 supercross. Some kids he is racing today would have been going to their first day of school when he was a professional racing the Daytona supercross in 2006.

There are a lot of guys that turned pro the same year or well after him that have been in the 450 field for years:

Dungey (2007 - moved to 450 in 2010)
Tomac (2010 - moved to 450 in 2014)
Seely (2009 - moved to 450 in 2015)
Baggett (2010 - moved to 450 in 2015)
Musquin (2008MX, 2012/SX - moved to 450 in 2016)
Anderson (2011 - moved to 450 in 2015)
Wilson (2010 - moved to 450 in 2015)
Tickle (2007 - moved to 450 in 2012)
Webb (2013/2014 - moved to 450 in 2017)
Weimer (2006 - moved to 450 in 2011)
Roczen (2009/MX, 2011/SX - moved to 450 in 2014)
M. Stewart (2011 - moved to 450 in 2017)
Bogle (2012 - moved to 450 in 2016)
Peick (2009 - 450 since rookie year)
Canard (2008 - moved to 450 in 2011)
Barcia (2009/2010 - moved to 450 in 2013)
Albertson (2006 - moved to 450 in 2009)
Friese (2009 - moved to 450 in 2012)

And several that have already retired:

Villopoto (2006 - moved to 450 in 2009)
W. Hahn (2006 - moved to 450 in 2014)
J. Lawrence (2006,SX - moved to 450 in 2009)
J. Hill (2007 - moved to 450 in 2008)
Stroupe (2008 - moved to 450 in 2011)

When comparing him to Davalos, I feel that it is different since he didn't race SX for three years, and got his first win this year. Davalos has been a top 250SX rider for many consecutive years.

I understand what you mean. Osborne missed 3 SX season to go compete overseas and that was his choice but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't change the fact that both have been in the 250 class since 2006. Both have been on good equipment for years and both have yet to move up to the 450's. With that being said only Davalos gets shit on for being in the class that long when in reality so has Osborne.

Either way it appears that both might have to move up in 2018. If that's the case I think Osborne stands a better chance at landing a ride than Davalos. Both are close in age but Osborne seems to be more consistent. Not sure who else is slated to move up in 2018 but all I know is that there isn't that many rides available.

Guess we'll see what happens in a few months.

I'm really excited to see him outdoors. I think he takes that next step and is a real title contender.

Rumor is Davalos laid up one season purposely so he would not point out. Not sure if that is true, but I've read it on this site before.
