So from what I heard, Wilson and Stewart both were offered the JGR Suzuki 450 fill in ride. Is that true? I think Weimer fits that Suzuki fill in role to a tee, so I get him fulfilling it, but I do find it interesting that both of them would have said no to a paid ride. Especially with Malcom all ready to race Suzukis on his own anyhow. Seems like he could have picked up his program just as soon as Barcia is ready to come back...
As for Dean not taking it, that makes more sense. He is chasing a full time Yamaha ride for the rest of SX and is gunning for Reed's factory bike outdoors, I'd say. If he puts her in the top 8 consistently, he will probably begin to prove his worth to McCarty and they will put something together. This 5 race thing for Dean reminds me of Josh Hill's Yamaha deal a couple seasons back, only he couldn't lock in the results. I'm ready to watch some racing already!

Not so complicated really.
The teams think everything is a BIG secret. They don't mind sharing info with journalist but hold the "we'll blacklist you" card over journalist's head if they actually do their job.
The thing is, nothing is a secret. No offense to ML or GuyB but most journalist in the moto industy want info handed to them on a silver platter. They don't actually have to investigate...hell real journalists barely do that now. They try to earn trust to gain value and credibility for their site/ mag but in the end, they are giving us what the factories/ teams/ and athletes want us to know. (An exception in recent memory would be ML's spy shots of the new Honda-if Honda wanted it to really be a secret, they would have tested somewhere private...see what I mean?)
Besides, this isn't real news...it's an over glorified man soap opera. Why do you need to know anyway? Why do you care so much about James or Mookie or Dean or * insert your favorite rider *. If you care so much, DM them on social media, shoot them an email, or give them a call. If they care enough about what you think, maybe they'll answer. Doubtful.
I know, go back to just lurking
How about this...
I hear there were discussions between JGR and Malcolm for that spot, and that Malcolm opted not to take it because it was for a limited number of races, and he's already building his own deal. To stop it now would have been sort of unfair to the people he's working with.
Look for Jake Weimer in that spot. He's already familiar with the bike, has no other commitments, and in case you've forgotten, he was also a 250 champ.
Pit Row
its a double edge sword, but i think the reporting could be way heavier than what it is.
namely im still curious about the drug ring that tony talked about a few years ago... people haven't forgot hahaha
From sponsorship deals, techinical info, every aspect is a total joke,
How inclusive and exclusive aspects of our sport are is exactly why it will always remain a niche sport and it only hurts itself in the end being this way.
Think about all the great articles we could have detailing in depth technical details on factory bikes, performance charts, comparisons etc, in depth interviews ( not after the fact years removed, like we're used to. ) Detailing the ins and outs of riders, teams, sponsors etc. Ton's of content goes untouched. Unproduced.......
There is so much information and content that is just thrown away because it's a clown show of bro's, insiders and " Professionals. "
It was cute though they tried to have more technical break downs last season with the cut away bikes, que shot to a suzuki missing a front number plate... " And here are the triple clamps, .... This is a clutch. " ...........
Just an absolute joke, compared to any other sport where transparency and in depth analysis and reporting DRIVE and CONNECT the sport to it's core fans, helps bring in casual fans and connects teams and athletes with a wider sponsor base and outside of the industry backers. ( Think about sponsors, potential team owners, investors, media agencies, etc. )
No one loses................ Media outlets get more content, more views, readers and sales. Teams build closer relationships with their fans, Sponsors and products gain more traction with consumers and ultimately, us, the fans get a far more personal experience with the sport we love and base a large portion of our lives around.
The moto world is a funny place, and i'm not sure I like it, it's obvious how much the pitfalls of this little industry hold it back and keep it to itself.
