Of course, there's never a good time to get sick, but ML and I have seemed to accomplished that.

We're just giving you a hard time guys. We all just need something else to argue about. It's not like anyone on this forum actually rides 4-strokes anyway. Grinning

What you should do is just post the results in the forum, but not all at once. Start with 7th place and throughout the day post another result each hour or so until the top three are revealed in the actual test. That will help us eek out a few extra hours of arguing about it. Wink

For the 2017 bikes i agree with your comments....reliability, contingency and dealer support are three pretty important factors that a shootout can never cover (although most here might not be interested in contingency)...that might well sway what you ride rather than a shootout result. To me the shootouts are a interest more than a ok this is what i will now buy, no disrespect to anyone doing shootouts just my humble opinion.

My statement about Kawasaki winning was an obvious joke, maybe I'm missing something?

What's even the point of having a shootout? The best bike is the one with the highest peak HP and best looking radiator shrouds. Laughing

I think torque and torque curves are something that should be looked at closer. I always tell people torque is for acceleration and HP is for sustained high speed. I know it's not that simple but, it does help people understand why there are two numbers and what they signify. I'd would bet that if a manufacture built an 80 hp 450, no matter how crappy the reliability, build quality or how aesthetically unpleasing the shrouds are it would probably win a shootout or two. If it had black rims it would be the bike of the century.

Honda will win because its brand new . It wont matter if it s great or terrible it will win every shootout , then next year we will find out what it is really like .Just the same as 09 , was the greatest bike ever when it came out , a year later it was a pile of crap . Same happen with the yamaha . "New" is always better in MX .

I agree with this statement. It's just a good read. I've literally had each brand over the last 3 years and they were all excellent bikes including the Suzuki which does more than just turn well (very reliable as well). Each bike works a little better in different conditions. I personally just want to hear about what everyone thought about each bike.....it's entertaining. In my area...there aren't a ton of dealers left (Chicagoland area). I would not base my decision on which bike i'm buying by what dealer I have close by. I can get the parts from Motosport. The bike shops don't do any of the labor (TZR Racing does anything that I can't do myself....I support that shop). Magazine/ website input helps with my new bike decision but there are way too many variables for a group of guys to pick which bike is best. I do, however, respect the shootouts and love to read them more than anything. Extremely interesting.

Some of my buddies need their bike to finish well in a shootout to justify their purchase. Whatever bike, helmet, boots they have....they need validation that it's the best. They regurgitate what the magazines say word for word. The Suzuki turns....the Yamaha is reliable....the Honda is slow....blah blah blah. Whatever they read.....this is gospel. It's a weird self fulfilling prophecy deal with motocross peeps. We love our shit!

Im with ya man.

I can count on one hand how many times I have bought something from one of the online shops. I wont do it unless my shop cant get it.

And for that Im rewarded for my loyalty. I get parts and bikes at a cost that blows the online shops out of the water.

I know a few that shop strictly online and they are fine with that.

To each their own.

A smoking deal on a '16 and a fork revalve will make it "Top of the List" for the track. The RMZ is excellent; but, the front end is kinda difficult to figure out.

You just trying to offend/piss off as many people as you can? Perhaps taking pause before hitting send would yield better results?

I think the Japanese bikes have the edge over the European quality personally, yes the European brands look after their customers well by handling the issues and recalls better than the Japanese, but there are a lot of them lately. That doesnt mean they are a bad bike, far from it, but it would be a factor for me if I couldnt race for a few weeks while waiting for the recalls to be addressed...or whatever. Anyway, it each persons individual choice and I am certainly not saying dont buy them.

SLACKER... Sorry, I'm still pulling my hair out... But here it is...

http://www.vitalmx.com/features/2017-Vital-MX-450-Shootout,5128

Be warned, two things are missing. One, the data acquisition... Second, the 350 didn't make it to the dyno chart due to a glitch... Both should be fixed by this evening but I wanted to get the piece out for everyone to read, so there ya be!

Dyno charts are interesting when compared to others.
What happened to Yamaha 450f, they didnt change thing and now its so much down from last year dynos?
Same goes to KTM as they were pretty same with Husky last year and now 2hp down?
