Off? Maybe, Way off? no. The Japanese bike will not hold value like the Husky will.

Fair enough......

I would hang on to the 2015...put a new lighter battery, swap to CC forks and rebuild the shock.

Well, got to the dealer, no budge on the 2017 husky price, but they have a "refurbished" 2016.5 Ktm factory edition 450, sold "as New" with 30 hours, for around 8000.00........hmmmm.

this...personally I think you can get a cheaper '16 KXF than the price you mentioned if you ring around, and you get a brand new bike...but hey, your choice Smile

Good luck sleeping with that every night.

Get the husky. No regrets it's only money. If you're not going to be broke from the extra $1300 over the Ktm I'd do it. If your going to shell out $8k what's $9300? But for real it's a tough choice but don't let yourself settle! Buy what you really want and don't regret it. Good luck.
Don't be afraid to drive around either. when I bought my bike 3 dealers were all pretty firm at $7500-7800. One last dealer had a bike on the floor and it was already halfway through the season and they let it go for $6100 right out of the crate. Shop around someone will play ball.

This. 2300 will make that kawi way better than a husky.

I got the chance to ride a new 16 KTM and 16 KX back to back before deciding and the KX suited me better. They are both great bikes but feel much different ergonomically. I would say the KX is more like the Honda. The KX motor was easier for me to ride. The KTM hit hard on top and that didn't suit my style. Again, both great just different.

Congrats u will love it I'm sure.. Rode a buddies 16 kx450 this past weekend. FC sprung/valved suspension. Bike is excellent. The front end grip is really a stand out. Very light feeling. Engine was very quick and smooth.

The 2017 KX450F gets a few much needed changes from the '16. Mapping and slight chassis/suspension tweaks. I liked the 2016 Kawi, but I haven't ridden the new AER48 KTM forks so I can't comment.

Personally, I'd go 2017 KX450F and add a Brembo oversize front kit w/ a SS line, FMF 4.1 RCT system, TM slide n glide kit, Hinson basket and springs and call it a day.
What " needed changes" ? The 17' forks got recalled because they were crap. Other than that , there wasn't anything that needed to be changed.

As far as what bike to get....personally I hate the feel of the KTM's and Husky's. Kawi , every single time. It just feels right.

I need to try not being a asshole, but the answer you seek is in this thread.

Guy paid "around" $8000 and got ripped off. Husky/ktm is much harder to sell where I live and you will not get that money back you paid initially. Should have got the 16 kxf and set it up for you. Dumb mistake. OP will learn when he goes to sell a bike that had 30 hrs to start with. Anyone in the market for a 100 hr 4 stroke? Didn't think so.

Mapping was changed to get rid of the lean condition down low, different shock linkage and triple clamps are the big 3. Those are all somewhat expensive things to change on a '16. The fork valving felt fine on the 2016 I spent time on. It was actually one of the better air forks I've ever ridden.

Idk how the newer Kawis are, but I always thought the fit and finish on the Honda's/Yamaha's/KTMs were way better than the Kawis (and I owned two Kawis). Maybe they are better now a days?

Jesus you guys sell your bikes once they have 100 hours on them? My last bike was running like a dream still at 140hrs. I mean if your running A class and your as fast as Richard Carmichael or Jimmy Stewart then yea I get it.
