That's fair. Just like they got the carb jetted right out of the box right? I mean why even tune port or change the pipe or any of the suspension clickers. 60 is a thin viscosity mix of gas. Don't be surprised if ur bike runs better with a thicker mix. Those carbs were designed for bikes that were recommended 32 and 40 to 1. I also don't have a new ktm so I'm probably way off base. What do u mix at slipdog?

Only jet I needed to touch was the main, went up one size. Idk what the deal is with everyone else's bikes running like garbage but mine was pretty spot on right out of the gate. Also I ran my 2010 yz250 at 52:1 forever and never had a single problem, I don't see a change of .08:1 making that big of a difference

I've never run a 2-stroke under 50:1 my entire adult life. Most of the years I raced as a pro I ran my 125's at 64:1 with no oil related engine issues ever.

Edit: To answer clearly, I'm running Motorex at 50:1

I'm running mine at 50:1 now. Still getting spooge. My KTM dealer mechanic recommended going to 60:1 and playing with the air screw.

Performance-wise I've had no problem with the jetting on this bike straight from the factory.

I've seen bikes with tmx spooge more with 40:1 and actually less with 32:1. It's counter intuitive for sure. Truth is thicker mix= leaner running . Odd as it sounds

I have experienced accelerated ring wear at 40:1 and went back to 32:1. I'm slow and ride off-road so there is that haha.

jeezus, how do you guys think the crank bearings get lubricated? PS, if you have spooge, fix your jetting.

If you've got spooge at 50:1 and go to 60:1 your problem will get worse. Thinner mixture will result in more fuel going through the jets, equals more unburned fuel and more spooge. You need to pick a mixture you're comfortable with. I.e., more oil if you ride a lot of sand, less if you're trail plonking, and then jet the bike to run well with that mix.

I have a 16 125 and my reed pedal is warped with a good size gap. I switched the pedal with the opposite side and seems to be sealed. I'll order up some new ones. Any word on after market parts?

That looks about as bad as my TC 250 was. I was reading 185 psi compression with my reed warped like that and then up to 225psi with new reeds.

For me I feel like 32 to 1 is cheating. Playing with the mix ratio is the final step to perfect jetting without any spooge. But to each their own.

I rode one last weekend. It is awesome! They finally figured out the forks. The lack of vibration had me a bit confused but I am sure I'd get used to it.The power is smooth and tractable(I rode it on a tight jumpy sand track) The tank and shrouds feel a little wide but I bet it's the best modern 250 2 smoke for sure. Having said that I still feel more comfortable and confident on my '14 YZ250 2 stroke....I honestly thought that once I rode one I'd want to sell the YZ but I don't....Also rode a '17 350 sx the same session, I felt really comfortable on that! Wow!!! that got me fired up except the $9,000 price tag settled me right back down Smile What a great time to be into motocross!!! So many awesome bikes and choices....

Congrats on the new ride. You won't be disappointed. Nice to be able to mix work with "house work". Let us know how it goes.

Yep, good old Humboldt County. This is our grass track behind my house, the dirt is unreal when prepped and literally ice slick when not. Not a single rock on the entire hill this track sits on.

I got about thirty min on her after work today on a very slick and muddy grass track. Awesome initial feeling with the bike. I've never liked previous KTM's I've ridden, they always felt weird to me. I've taken my father in laws 2013 250sx to the track a couple times and honestly I wound up trading my brother in law for his 03 yz250 both times, I just didn't like anything about it. Recently I had a chance to ride my buddies 2016 450sxf and finally met a KTM I liked.

From the first lap I felt completely comfortable, it actually feels a lot like my rm, which I've kept very fresh. Surprisingly it corners just as good, dare I even say better than the rm. The transition from upright to lean angle is amazing, this is something that stuck out to me on the 450sxf I rode too. So happy right now!!!

Here's a couple muddy berms....

Thats funny, I just moved from the same bike to the same bike, well the white KTM anyway... My 06 RM 250 was a great bike, but I figured after 10 years it was time to move on, and KTM finally made a bike that I felt was worth moving too. only 1.1 hrs in and so far pretty darn happy with the 17 TC 250, Though 1.1 hrs isnt alot to go on...

I ran mine 60:1 with motorex as the manual recommends, jetting stock but switched to 450 main jet. Ran pretty darn good. I'm in Michigan so fairly low elevation. But I'm done with the bike for a while as I broke my femur last weekend when I came up short on a triple at a local track. Not sure what the future has for my bike, may be seeing it in the classified section, may not idk.

Just threw up a little bit looking at that xray! Heal up LaMay, and ride on!

It was a nasty injury for sure lol every day gets a little bit easier, you don't realize how much you take things like walking for granted until you can't do it.

We made hoses for the 250/450 4 strokes first and after launching them we were FLOODED with smoker questions!

KTM sells a TON of the 250/300 2 strokes!
