Haha. He said he wanted to focus in 2009 though. I mean, has anyone seen him doing anything bad in 2009 (except for his racing so far..)? He even gave props to Dungey for becoming a lot more mature rider and less mistakes. I hope he can prove us "haters" wrong. It would be fun. He's got no chance for the '09 title though I guess.

Bad luck and good speed = no championship - Ask Dungey about that in 2008.

Nothing would be better than all the top riders having good luck, going fast, and having someone come out a great chamion in the end.

Not really bad luck in all cases. Part of talent is staying our of trouble on and off the track but of course if someone takes you out or you blow up your bike, that's bad luck!

As to lap times and general overall consistent speed, i disagree. He is NOT on par with the top 3 at this point anyway. I am sure those 3 top guys would love to have him up there though just so they could stuff him.. It was a mistake to talk shit on Wiemer IMO cause now he has another enemy on the track. When he gets to the bigs, he will have RV stuffing him at any chance not to mention the other guys he has fecked with..

Its going to be a rough time for him in the future with so many guys that don't think much of him and his methods. I truly hope he gets a good start next race and will race the good guys clean just to see how he does when talent is the only thing he uses to fight with.

I don't have the time to go through lap times, but I do believe he has been in the top 3 lap times for each weekend..

True, Canard is having a bad year and some is luck but some is just bad decisions as he has said himself. He still has a better chance to win a race than JLaw though IMO because Canard has the kind of attitude that will shine and also no enemies on the tracks since RV moved upWink

Thats correct, he blamed Wiemer for getting in his way at the start and causing JLaw to hit his rear wheel and go down. He made some sort of derogatory remark about him in an interview with Bates. You would have to go back to watch it if you TIVO'd it.

Three rounds in last year, people said the same thing. Granted, it's mathematically unlikely he'll defend his title, but It's not over 'till its over and there should be a lot of good racing left!

People like to bag on J-Law for his off-track actions, but he has a very creative marketing approach. He's gets tons of exposure online and on TV playing the role of the "villian." How many new threads have you seen this week about Ryan Sipes? Eric McCrummen? Ryan Clark? Dan Reardon? And so on... All of these guys have the potential to be on the box any weekend, yet they fly under the radar. Everyone in the sport knows that Jason is running One gear now. Can you name the gear sponsors for any of the guys I listed above?

Love him or hate him, he generates exposure for his sponsors and that's how this game works. Personally, I think Yamaha should shed the crisp and clean image they are trying to portray and embrace all facets of the sport. Not everyone is an angel and not everyone is a devil, but everyone can relate to both.

I can't remember the last time a Lites or SX champion didn't make a main.....maybe it was Todd...?

To me, a champ that doesn't make a main comes back the following week for blood.

A little 8 race 15 lap event series (under 2 hours a year) should not be considered a title in the first place. It means nothing.

There really the uncontrollable.


And no, he isn't.
He put together his own team to come back and make a effort.
That more then any of you guys on here could do.

First of all, you are not watching him ride without prejudice and secondly you are overgeneralizing when you say "none of you on here could do that". I have a feeling a few on here have done much more than that if you are talking about difficult work and financial achievements..But the fact that he did come back and put together a deal is admirable in its own right.

Jeff Emig had an incredible year in 1997 winning both the SX title and outdoor title.

The following year he made Hansen look like RC.

Gotta love Jeff Emig.

while J-Law may be struggling a bit,didnt he have a hand injury?The worst title defense I can remember has to be Emigs defense of his 97sx title.He got the hole shot in Seattle and finished 12th without falling.The rest of his season wasnt much better.

Emig didn't do the best job.In the 250 class. They had similar training regimens so it would seem. Don't get me wrong, though. I think J-Laws results aren't to lack of training. I think he has just had some bad luck.I also think Jason will be back on top of the box before to long.You guys should cut him a beak.
