When I go to local tracks I take my 90s bike and wear 80s and 90s gear.

Its funny passing all these dickheads who think you need 200 dollar goggles to go fast.

I wear my newer stuff and ride my 300 when we head to the woods

The "...kaleidoscope puked on me." comment made me laugh! Well, the 90's were worse if that helps! But I agree, gear looks like crap today. I went with white Fly gear. Kind of like the old Jeff Ward white Kawi gear.

Nah. Its just fun. Im wearing some Bradshaw zebra stuff currently.

I have some new Fox stuff from 1992 Im going to bring out soon.
Whats old is new. And actually looks better than todays offerings for the most part.

Also I've noticed fasthouse the new Thor and a few others I'm forgetting are doing a good job trying to leave the neon trend behind. Some of shifts stuff has been pretty good still too

I mean, growing up with motocross in the late 80's, neon and bright colors were always a cool aspect of it imo. The same applied to skateboarding and surfing (of which, mx should always remain synonymous imo if we want to brand the sport correctly).

The problem now is people try to put the wrong colors together on purpose, which is seriously stupid, but moreover the gear companies way over do it with "busy" designs that lose the eye and aren't thought through very well.

Yet somehow the very top guys (like top 4) seem to always look "Factory", which is a clean, less--is-more look heralded early on by guys like Ward, Bailey. Johnson, Dymond, Lechien, Glover, Kehoe, and O'Mara.

If you have a good eye for design, and you have the channels to put together a new gear company, this is probably a good time to do it because you could be a big fish in a small pond quickly.

Lol, thanks. Man I laughed all the way through the responses and love the old pics. The neon I most remember from the 90's is the smoking joes neon purple and yellow racing team colors (super bike). I remember LBZ clothing company making baggy riding pants and running ads in Dirt Rider with hot chicks.

Dang, all you old dudes complaining about gear today sound like my dad. I hate to break it to you, but... It really is you. You're getting old and blindly reminiscing about the old days. Gear today is better than ever. The technological improvements are incredible, and if you can't find something you like you're just not looking hard enough or you really are a grade A curmudgeon. Seriously. Nearly every company has 3 lines of gear each with 6-8 'colorways'. I'm 34 so I'm comfortably into the vet classes. I understand where you're coming from, I don't understand some of today's music or hair styles, but I know enough to keep that to myself and acknowledge my best days have passed me by. Guys... you honestly sound like that old dude at the high school party reminiscing about the good ole days. Some food for thought. Now get off my lawn! Lol

Jt is back in business if you didn't know. Honestly, I find it hard to complain about what's available with everything that is out right now.

Maybe check out Canvas MX. You can get all solid colors and add logos if you want. It's owned by pro rider Michael Lieb. https://www.canvasmx.com

The Fox 180 stuff is toned down. Way more vet options out there than 5-10 yrs ago. That was crazy-time.

I just want symmetrical fox gear again. The early to mid 2000's fox gear was legit.

If you're 35 then you should remember the neon 90's and none of this should be new to you. Luckily companies still make a few tradtional...
