One of our So Cal Motocross families made it to LL this year for the first time....Dad in a Vet class and son on an 85...
Somehow the 12 year old managed to grab the mechanics pass and go to the line and mechanics area with his Dad....Each lap giving words of encouragement to Pops...., Push, Get em!, ect.......with 2 laps to go, it was obvious that dad was worn out and struggling, the rest of the race would be for survival...his pit board?
"Hang in There"
With the white flag out, and Dad totally spent, he comes by the mechanics area, and his Son has written 3 simple words on the Pit Board......I Love You!
Every Mini Dad should take note!

there are many fathers out there that should take a lesson from your son!!!
I think I would have teared up in me helmet
I had all my girls with me at a race this weekend, and although they didn't have a pit board it was still nice to see them at the side of the track cheering me on in the last couple laps of the motos when my arms were jelly, hands were cramped up and I was slipping in and out of consciouness..........
In a similar vein, one of my good friends (in his late 50s but in phenomenal shape) rides almost every weekend with his 21 year old son. Gone are the days when he could keep up with him, but that doesn't mean he moves over. Here's a great picture taken last year (dad on right, son on left).
p.s. my friend is a former British sidecar champion and paratrooper.
I was falling asleep on the couch yesterday after work and my 3.5 year old son kissed my head and said he loved me just like I do every night as he is falling asleep... I smiled a shed a little tear I have to admit!
Kids are awesome sometimes... make you forget when you want to choke the life out of them!!!! : )
Imagine being the dad as you came around and read it
