Just the fact's ma'am, check this out. Been self employed for 36 years. I've been on a Norco a day for several years, actually less, I get 50 every other month. Most nights I take one an hour or so before I go to bed. I also like to smoke one bowl of weed at the end of the day, don't smoke during the day, don't smoke a lot. (used too, not anymore). A few months ago I got a new doctor (Kaiser) we talk about the norco's, she looks at my x-rays (arthritis, failed and revised hip implant, bone on bone knee) I say I take them to sleep, (truth) ok no problem nice meeting you, one a day is not a problem. I don't bring up the weed because I've learned over the years that people who don't smoke it or who have never tried it over react. Raging alcoholic and hung over or still drunk every morning ? that's cool, little weed at the end of the day= the spawn of Satan. 2 months later norcos denied, I need to come in for appointment, ok fine. She says "We need to do a urine test to make sure you're not selling the norcos", okay.... I'm 57, get less than 1 a day, and you think I'm selling them... ok fine whatever. Take the test. Then I got an e-mail saying you tested positive for marijuana, I can no longer prescribe norcos. I ask why, because you are at a high risk for addiction. What happened to one a day is no problem I ask ? She says oh it's not me I'm not picking on you, wait 30 days, take another test and if there's no marijuana I'll write the prescription. So I said ok fine. I'm 3 weeks into "sobriety". I don't have an addictive personality luckily, (unless you count wanting to sleep more than 2 or 3 hours a night). So instead of being relaxed and drifting off to sleep at night now, I lay awake and think about work, and most nights something hurts enough to keep me up because I'm trying to not take norcos and save them for the "Bad nights". So I've been self employed for 37 years, I employ 2 full time people plus a part time guy, I own my own home, pay boatloads of taxes, obey the laws (well all except one I guess) pay $1,100 whopping dollars a month for health insurance to pay the salary of a young smug female doctor who is convinced I'm a drug dealing low life junkie. Is it me or is that fucked up ?

one a day? those things last about an hour.

but,i know what you feel like.,i got the bone on bone knee,my plateau downslopes several degress on each side so the femur slips around. ankle driven up thru my leg an inch ,rebuilt with old car parts or something.

ive riden the rollercoaster of pain meds for a decade. got kicked out of a pain clinic for the weed to. got escorted out by cops for going to 2.

good times.

self employed also.

found a good doc,get mine doled out so i dont talke 20 at breakfast.

for sleeping ive tried xanax, made me put my pants on backwards, klopin, groggy, some kind of sleeping pill, holy shit.

so,i just lay awake and listen to george on america am.

sorry for spelling,on my kids little tablet, can baarely see it.

oh,it became law here for the piss test few years ago,so,no weed ever.

back in early 2000s you could order them on the net for 50 cents a tab, goverment screwed that.

250 a day dying! 250 a freaking day and no one talks about it hardly. Sad

Man it's crazy how the state can push booze on everyone but screw your life up for weed. A damn weed. I'm not a smoker but I think it should be legal. No one has ever overdosed on freaking weed.

hillbilly the ones I take are 325 mg's and seem to last 2-3 (hours for me at least) It's long enough that I get through the constant dull ache in my knee and I also get rls some nights and they help with that too. As far as the weed, I stopped 3 weeks ago now an honestly don't really miss it that much, but at the end of the day or after dinner it's nice to forget about work for a few minutes, play guitar, tinker in the garage, waste some precious hours away in front of the idiot box (tv) whatever. Without it I tend to be naturally more responsible I guess ? And wind up in my home office doing work bullshit for what seems like 24 hours a day. You're self employed so you know there's always something that needs done, there's no "caught up", ever. Anyway I guess I've been spoiled never having to take any drug tests before, or answer to anyone about my personal habits, and now I'm dealing with this bitch. Way way way too much government control bullshit for this old redneck hillbilly at heart even though I live at the beach old deadhead hippy burnout haha. So now I'm starting to wonder wich is worse, pain pills or weed ? I honestly think weed is the lesser of the two evils, but since our gov't hasn't figured out how to make money off weed it's evil evil evil. Guess I'll start drinking more and start taking sleeping pills, seems like that's somehow healthier in the eyes of the powers that be, aaarrrrgh...... insert eyeroll here....

Call your doc and ask her if you can take a benadryl each night instead of the weed. Would this adversely affect her ability to reinstate your pain meds. Works well!

I've recently tried to switch to weed over pills after my most recent shoulder issues. I was just enjoying the pills too much, couldn't shit, was taking em for the fuck of it. Problem is I don't particularly enjoy smoking weed, and I haven't found a blend that works for pain all that well. Yet. From my understanding the CBD count is what I'm aiming for? Fortunately I live in a state where it's legal, that makes it really nice. I do think the pain pill issue in the US is absolutely insane, so sad. I've talked to friends and colleagues in the medical world and they can't believe how much of that shit gets written up.

They just arrested a pain management doctor near buffalo who had over 10,000 patients ,most of which were on pain pills. Lots of people having withdrawal at the same time ,one guy tried to rob a hospital and one guy went to a gun range ,rented a gun and killed himself. The local AM radio host was making a point that it was a witch hunt because the guy prescribed more pain pills then every hospital in new York city combined . The radio show was taking calls from some of his patients and they all said at one time or another they had to submit to a surprise urine test randomly.

My wife just had surgery on her hand and got 30 pain pills. She took 2 and I took the remaining 28. I love those things.

I don't like weed. It makes me too paranoid.

I don't think weed helps at all with pain, if anything the increased heart rate might make it hurt more. The big difference I would guess is that you don't care about it as much. LOL I think it's good if you want to go from thinking about 20 things at once to 1 or 2 things at once. Like letting your brain go from wfo in 5th to 1/2 throttle in 2nd. Not good for working or being responsible obviously but great for relaxing.

Like crash, I'm not a smoker even living in a state where it's legal.

But it's asinine that people aren't allowed to use it for pain if that's the reaction they get. I've known plenty of athletes who smoke for pain management and the side effects are nothing compared to the side effects of pain pills.

Thank Govco for the "War on Americans who use drugs". What started out as a way to imprison the opposition's political allies has turned into limiting your best choices to live a relatively decent life for many.

Not sure what to do. Find a different pain management dr.

My company made a policy even though it's legal we can't smoke it. And now INSTUTITES random drug testing. Pot didn't pass in Ohio but they thought it was going to, so they continued the policy anyway.

I have had a couple of surgeries where I had to take some narcotics for a prolong time. At one time in my life i was actually dependent on lortab but functioned quite well on just 3 doses a day. The worst pain med I got dependent on was the non addictive Tramadol .

Tramadol is very addictive, not sure what makes you say it isnt. Its an opiate, and they all effect people differently. Tramadol fucks me up more than oxy or hydro, I've tried all of them plenty of times to know. I get high for hours, feel great. The come down sucks tho.

Go see a psych, and get some Trazadone. Took that shit years ago. It knocked me out within 45 minutes each time I took it. For hours.

Tramadol an opiate??? I have a couple of bad spots in my spine. My family Dr. wanted me to start seeing a pain management specialist back around 2009. The selling point of the Tramadol back then was it was not addictive and not on the D.O.T drug screen list.I took around 150mg a day for two years. That Tramadol withdrawal was no joke.

Its definitely an opiate. It doesn't get lumped into the same category as hydro and oxy. You can buy it otc in thailand. But it's an opiate and will definitely give someone withdrawal under certain circumstances.

Many (maybe most large interstate) companies in Washington still follow federal guidelines, not state guidelines. A few have completely stopped pre-employment testing because no one was passing the tests, but if they do a post-accident test and detect THC, you're gone.

Funny you mention that, my uncle just left me a nug of white widow the other day, first time i have smoked in YEARS. Actually went fairly well, last time it was a nightmare and made my pain worse.
In the old days it was just weed, the names they come up with nowadays crack me up, Alaskan Thunder fuck ?, Train Wreck ?, Permanent damage ?, where do they come up with this shit ? oh nevermind... Laughing

Are you being serious? Which flag is flying, the sarcastic one or the red one?

Not the weed part.

hillbilly the ones I take are 325 mg's and seem to last 2-3 (hours for me at least) It's long enough that I get through the constant dull ache in my knee and I also get rls some nights and they help with that too.
Twice you've bitched out the doctor but the drug test is a government thing not a personal thing. Should she put her license on the line for you? No doctor will do it so finding another medical plan won't work. You don't miss the weed that much you say so it sounds like you just want it. I guess you gotta be dying of cancer to get weed now.
I feel your pain, sometimes I think about weed too. I'm bone on bone in my ankle, right knee clicks, pops and locks and my back has 3 bulges. I am usually awake from pain before I am rested because of it. Last time I took tramadol I was sick and groggy for 24 hours. When I have a sciatic flare nothing touches it. Good luck.

I had some one who had never broken a bone tell me I should have smoked herb instead of the 30 Percocet I got for my four broken ribs in January.

Sure Wally.

Around here everyone is all about the dabs now. Basically they're concentrates vaporized on a titanium/quartz nail. Extremely high in THC, one rip and you're done. No more smoking a whole bowl and coughing through 5-6 tokes. Watch out though, it's a great way to ruin your tolerance. Plus it kinda looks like you're smoking crack, so it's a little weird the first couple times.

But holy hell does it get you baked...

Was standing in line at DMV today and had LOTS of time to kill and got to talking to the guy next to me who I find runs a pot dispensary. Makes 12K per day. Doesn't even break a sweat.
