Why is the MAVTV coverage so grainy and blurry? Anyone else getting bad coverage quality on MAVTV? Not wide screen format either. Like watching a low bandwith video.

Anyone have tricks? or do you just wait til hits the promotocross.com archives and watch?

There is no difference between the broadcasts (MAVTV and NBCSN). The difference is likely your tv provider only carrying MAVTV in standard definition rather than HD. If you watch it all online it all looks the same in high definition if your internet is fast enough to support it.

Oh how spoiled we have all become. Just be happy these races are being covered at all. Add that they are being shown live is even better. But I agree it can be hard to watch, Direct Tv needs to get MavTV in HD.

From what I understand (which ain't much) some areas of the country get MAV in HD and some do not. Can anyone verify? I have DIRECTTV, and do NOT get it in HD in Florida. However, I am glad I get it!

DirecTV actually down coverts MavTV to SD. All or most of all MavTv is recorded in HD, for whatever reason, Direct doesn't pass that along. I'm a fan of Direct, but this move has me scratching my head, especially given them amount of motor/action sports they show.

FiOS has MAVTV in HD thankfully, and it's truly amazing quality.

If you have decent internet service, then utilize NBC Sports Live Extra. I have Apple TV and it came preloaded on and it streams every moto in HD. I believe first motos don't require any login to watch, 2nd motos do though.

Mediacom had it in Iowa when I lived there. Had to get the sports package or something.

It's definitely the provider that causes the quality issues because when I moved and switched the quality got a lot better.

DirecTV has it in SD. I watched it on promotocross.com on Sunday, as I was racing MX while MX racing was on live. Get it? :-)

I flipped back and forth between HD promotocross.com on the computer connected to the HDMI input on the TV and the DirecTV MAVTV recording to make myself sicker at DirecTV.

I pretty much just watch it on my phone now. Directv sucks for downgrading mav. For what we pay for stupid tv everything should come HD.

We pay for High Definition TV and they're not providing high definition broadcasts of one of the few reasons many of us have cable in the first place. I don't have MAVTV and I'm done switching to the next provider for MX/SX. I'm not sure what is preventing MAVTV from being on more carriers in high def, but I have to imagine that the limited access has dropped whatever ratings MX had previously to a low. I'd be curious to see for sure. I wish MX Sports or whoever is in charge of the TV package didn't sign with MAVTV until more providers carried their channel. . . and in high def.

I don't believe that UVerse or DirectTV or any other provider really listen to customer complaints until they hit a certain threshold. And the MX community that is willing to contact them to actually say something about it, don't even come close to the amount they need to give a crap. I've filled out that form for U-Verse probably 10 times in case they do look at them, but it's been 2 or 3 years now and no cigar.

DirecTV broadcasts mavtv in standard def because they our out of space (no pun intended) in their hi-def satellites. In order to add "more" hi-def channels, they basically need to build and deploy a new satellite(not cheap I'm sure) or move a current hi-def channel to standard def and move the new channel to hi-def in it's place.

Now, I'm sure there's some wiggle room there.. Mav TV probably isn't the highest watched network, so I would guess if ESPN 4 was created, Directv would somehow find a way to fit it into their hi-def satellites... (Maybe they save some hi-def space for the larger networks)

Also, haven't we had enough of this "spoiled" crap? Hi-def has been around for 15~ years, and it's been common place in homes for ~10 years. I can watch MXGP, whenever I want, with NO COMMERCIALS, in hi-def. It's better than what promotocross offers, period. I missed 3 lead changes(passes) Saturday because of the commercial break. Every time they come back from a commercial I already know I'm going to hear Weigant: "AND WE HAVE A BIG SHAKEUP HERE IN THUNDER VALLEY AT THE FRONT!!"

If we're spoiled by getting commercial interrupted, standard def, broadcasts of moto, then the Euro's must be crapping gold upon their gold toilets, because they get it all for $100.

And please, please, don't come back with "You can watch it all commercial free in hi-def on promotocross.com". NO, YOU CAN'T. The commercials breaks are still there, you do NOT get interrupted moto's.

Having said all of that, the MavTV/NBC Sports coverage isn't all that bad... The commercials, for the most part, have been cut down by a bit. But we still have:

GO PRO track preview DURING THE MOTO
Commercials DURING THE MOTO
Interviews with X DURING THE MOTO

Before anyone replies to my comment (and doesn't agree %100 with me), let me remind you I am %100 correct in everything I say. I am the master.

I believe that Weege explained it in a podcast that NBC bought the rights to air the second motos but not the first. So the first motos were not owned by anyone and when MAVTV found out about this they decided that they would air the first motos live because it is content that fits their network and they're trying to grow but they don't own them which is why anyone can watch the first motos live online and only NBCSN subscribers can watch the second motos live.

Not to mention 4+ hours of a live HD sporting event if they were to air all 4 motos. It makes sense why they do it the way they do it. While the SD broadcast I get on MAVTV isn't great, it could be much worse and I still enjoy the show.

Let's ask Oscar what his best tool is in his toolbox... NO, LET'S DON;T, ... and back to a replay of a pass or crash .

1 hour show, 37 minutes of racing, 45 minutes of air time. DO THE MATH.

They go for 17 laps, we don't need a Kawasaki track map where they changed 3 things and the arrow goes 100 mph around the track. A GoPro half lap from practice? yes, please.

Comcast says they are broadcasting MAVTV in HD but are not. Just a gimmick to charge for more HD channels.

I agree with getting rid of the track map, whats in your toolbox, and LIT Pro segments.

I about shit myself when he said an 8mm T handle. . . Damn. . . that is going to make things go so much more smoothly at my races. . . I keep not taking the 8mm with me and here he is, he has one in his back pocket the whole time.

Oscar. . . why is Roczen so good?

Well uh because he works for it and is really talented.
