What's eating Eli Tomac?

Tomac is my guy, so needless to say this season has been a huge disappointment thus far. But his lack of energy and enthusiasm on the podium is really bumming me out. What is his deal and what needs fixed that is holding him back?

It's a total 180 from when he's riding good/content with his speed. Dude is so monotone in his podium interviews lately. Definitely weird.

wasnt it a damn good ride from eli in the 2nd moto? it was his best finish of the season so far, hes obviously improving.

He had the fastest lap. The reason he is bummed is because he knows he is as fast as Dungey and Roczen. He'll always be bummed unless he's on the top step. That's not a bad thing. His starts are terrible, but lacking enthusiasm for not winning is not a negative mark against him. The start is really the only part of the track where he suffers, so using the KX-F as an excuse is illegitimate.

It was a great ride, absolutely. It's just his monotone, no sunshine attitude on the podium that has me puzzled. As well as his bad starts.

How long did it take him to get the Honda dialed in...a season and a half? Why any different with the Kawi? Also, shoulder injuries are a bear. He may never be the same. Such a mental sport....

Sorry, man...been one of those days! I'm sure Eli has been a little frustrated with his season so far...especially after the hype generated by his speed last year, and the pressure I'm sure he's under as Kawie's star rider. Roczen's been on fire, and up until today...Dungey has been there too. He sure hasn't had anything handed to him.

But...today he rode pretty damn impressively. I think he's starting to click...

It's NOT the bike, Josh has been getting good starts every Moto on the same bike. Maybe it's just his timing ?? I'm sure he'll get it figured out, he's showing some great speed during the race.

My stream crapped out after Kenny interview so didn't see others.Was he still depressed after second moto? thought he rode great, If he wants be upset with someone should be himself for his crappy starts.

Fastest time in the second moto and the fastest man on track for the last eight laps or so... Hard to do that if the bike isn't setup well. He's qualifying well and his laptimes are there when it's rough... Something isn't clicking the rest of the time...

I think this too. If Roczen and Tomac are near each other, Roczen eats him up easily. Roczen is so fast and confident right now, he's got both Dungey and Tomac beat before the gate drops.

I believe he just needs to start within the top 5 and he'll show what he's really got, I have to think he's fit based on him charging that whole second moto and he can turn a lap as fast as anyone. There's just no way he can beat Roczen right now if he has to pass 10+ guys while Roczen's running away with it, but I do believe Eli can beat Roczen if they start together.
