Maybe they're pretty decent but they weren't designed for the loads kenny put on them. He was going down the hills like it's a highway o.O

I've yet to meet anyone that likes air forks, but have met many that have chosen to buy older models, simply to avoid them.

Myself included.

Ive had to do the same with trucks. I buy older trucks to avoid all the modern emissions BS. If it aint broke, dont fix it!

Could you provide an example of a spring fork failing because I really can't think of a single time. Not doubting you, I just don't remember it ever happening.

Commercial airplanes use air struts. They rarely fail. The air forks and shock on my mountain bike have not failed in ten years. If there were multiple failures at every round I would agree that there is a problem. This is one failure after hundreds or thousands of combined laps among all of the riders. One failure does not indicate a design flaw. It indicates that something out of the ordinary happened.

I remember when radiators appeared on MX bikes. We all thought is was a ridiculous idea. They would get roosted and leak. They would break in a crash and leak. It was new and we thought we knew better. Turns out we were wrong. I remember when F.I. came out. We all thought it was too complicated and would be prone to failure. It appears to be sorted out now. I think the same can be said for air suspension. It is new. We don't understand it completely. One day we will and it will be a moot point.

I have had a couple of spring failures over the year including Race Tech and Eibach springs. When it happens the bike becomes virtually unrideable. The thing with an air spring failure is the fork of a SFF you know what happens with KYB PSF or non SFF spring forks you dont know what has caused the bike to handle like a drunk slinky.
