I don't know, I can't help but notice the digs in racer head towards gp's since RV raced last year. I'm wondering is the US media scared another one of their riders wants to race the world championship.

I don't understand why this would be a problem , then they could definitely say an American is the fastest rider in the world if they won the championship, but certainly they are afraid of their riders racing MXGP instead of their national championship
Oh brother.

Suzuki extended his contract though.

I would say it's safe to bet that both want out equally At this point.

Grinning Grinning true for MXGP coverage in general in the USA. Keep the world championship coverage low and it will go away.

MXGP - Low publicity keeps low interest. USA MX - Big publicity creates even more interest. It also creates the false perception that the series that gets the most coverage is the higher level. Clever.

The patriotic agenda is becoming embarrassing.

It's not unpatriotic to give the world championship the same coverage as US motocross in America. It's the world championship and the USA is part of the world and host two rounds of the series! It's not USA v them.

Yet how many covers has Cairoli had in US magazines despite being an eight-time world champion? Even snoopy has one!

It should be patriotic to want a US rider to race in and be crowned world motocross champion, not seen as more honourable to stay in America. Very odd mentality.

Very interesting and a great post although a bit too much tinfoil hat-mentality.

But i thought that RV and Covington racing in the GPs would get the US media more involved but i feel like it's even worse this year.

I actually dropped my jaw when i listened to the 250mx preview that RacerX made when Matthes talked about Arnaud Tonus as an unknown rider before coming over to US and PC/Kawasaki.

Couldn't be that they post/write the stories that get them the most clicks and subscriptions, right? Because they are a business and need to make money? No, you're probably right. They're doing it because of the patriotic agenda.

I'm curious, other than RV maybe making one (not sure if he did) but have any American riders been on the cover of euro mags? Honest question. I have no idea. Just so you know, I personally buy a race every now and them and always watch the second motos that cbssports airs every Sunday night. I follow Saturdays live timing and check the results if I miss it. Do I follow it to the level the US nat's? Not even close but I do keep up with it for sure.
I will be at Charlotte this year.

No, never seen any US racers on one of our mags.
Don't have a clue who these guys might be...
It's the underworld, down here, ya know...

Yeah please, shut up about Matthes. That dude looks, writes and talks like a real redneck. Hard to imagine that he's Canadian. His ignorance to European riders seems sometimes like just some act like become popular, because when I'm in Lille, Genoa or Bulgaria to watch some Supercross he's always there. Weird to for a dude who thinks less about riders such as Arnaud Tonus.

I think it's pretty safe to say that while the MXGP's have dipped their toe in the American market, they have hardly committed to it. Why, then, should the MXGP's expect equal interest to the US Nationals in the states? One round (or none) vs 12 ?

You think of the US as one country, but proportionally, it's geographically (and by population) as diverse as all of
Europe. When the MXGP's have a proportional presence in meetings in the US you should expect similar interest and similar media coverage. Until then, you are simply pissing in the wind, my friend.

Not Mattii how do you even know what a redneck is? LOL. The muddy cargo shorts and tshirt with flipflops that he wore to the vegas after party does look a little "redneckish"!!
