Nothing too new.
Ran this ratio for 2yrs in my 1996 KTM 250sx and inspected piston (the original one) prior to selling and it looked practically brand new. No issue whatsoever. Always used Motul.

No e start for sx. However it does have the new cases which explains some weight gain. I am surprised they disnt add it. Efi will be on 2018 xc-w line first.

I wonder why the KTM's vibrated so much? I've rode an 07 YZ250, 06 KX250, and my 04 RM250. The vibration in the pegs from the YZ and RM is barely noticeable. For some reason the KX made my feet go numb.

Anyone know what type of fuel injection KTM has been working on for the 2 strokes? I would bet we see EFI before any type of SDI or DI system. The best results would be from a true DI system for the 2 smoker.

I was thinking the 250SX would be under 210lbs. Guess a magazine will have to weigh both the YZ250 and new KTM without fuel.

I love the counter balanced 2 strokes. Just my opinion but I wish ktm would stop moving away from the amount of orange on their bikes.

I don't see EFI, they say they'll only make the switch for emissions. On a 2 stroke there's not any real emissions benefit from going EFI, it'd have to be DFI.

It may be the dealers, but my local guys want around $9500 otd for a 2016 250 SX, and $7500 OTD for a YZ250.

Those prices are the same for multiple dealers

No myth here

That is very strange, and how is KTM accepting that their dealers bump up the msrp that high?

I'll play.

450XC-F: $10.099
350XC-F: $9999
250XC-F: $8999
300XC Two-stroke: $9099
300XC-W Two-stroke: $9099
250XC Two-stroke: $8999
250XC-W Two-stroke: $8899
150XC-W Two-stroke: $7999

A YZ250X has an MSRP of $7390 and you can pick one up for under $7k if you shop around. KTM dealers likely won't budge on prices with the demand for the 2017 models.

So yes, at least with the offroad models, the difference is around $2000.

Yamaha has 5 different offroad models, KTM have close to 20 different EXC and XE models. They have the luxury to have high price tags since they are completely dominating the offroad market. I was only talking about MX models.

The yamaha isn't as refined as the KTM. The new xc models have the footpegs mounted higher. The KTM offroad models get a bigger gas tank. Lots of little things. Maybe not worth 2K to you, but it makes for a better bike.

A better bike IF they fix the crap suspension. It's a $2000 difference between MSRP but more like $3000 by the time you get the ktm suspension close to what the Yamaha offers stock.

Must be the dealer

I was quoted $7700 OTD for a 16 250sx

I'm betting I could have got the Yamaha for under $7000

So in Canada the KTMs just happen to be going for way, way over MSRP and Yamahas a bit under the MSRP? Hmm....

Well take a look at this: http://www.apexcycle.ca/default.asp?page=xNewInventoryDetail&id=1468248…

A KTM SX 250 2016 for $8,297.00.

Edit: It seems like you can get some kind of a $500 discount also at that dealer. So you could get a SX 250 2016 for $7797?

You guys know that the dollar is stronger in the US which is why CAN prices are higher.

Also, the XC has a 6 speed and the SX has a 5 speed. ML needs to update his info.

The 2016s come with air forks, and supposedly the WP air forks are better than Showa and KYB air. The 4CS aren't exactly liked, but they aren't awful for slow riders. The CC forks that came on my KTM are just as good as what was on my Kawi.
Lots of hate for KTM'S suspension from people who just don't know.

i've been running 50:1 in my 300. when i first got the bike i was running 40:1 because i failed to look at the proper ratio recommended by KTM. the bike never ran good and always had goo running out the back of the silencer. after reading the 60:1 recommendation, i switched up to 50:1 and it runs great at that. when i do long distance high-speed rides i switch back to 40:1 for more lubrication.

but yeah, the 60:1 seems insane after growing up with 32:1 on my 80's and 125's.

I've bought 3 new 250 2 strokes since winter 2012. 2 ktms and 1 yz, I like to shop around, calling any dealerships within a 3 hour drive. All of these prices were the cheapest quotes I got.

My 13 250sx was bought in late November of 2012. 6,500 otd cash

My 15 250sx was bought in August 2015, 6,600 otd cash (15s were very hard to find so I got a bunch of quotes for 16s, the lowest quote I got was for 6,900 or 7 otd) I would rather have the orange frame so I got the 15

My 14 yz250 ( new left over) was bought in February 2016, 5,400 otd cash with 300$ rebate. Cheapest quote I got for a 16 was 6,600. Most were over 6,800 though.

I spent almost 3 years on the ktms, my yz has 23 hours since March. I like the yz better, should have bought one a long time ago. I wouldn't say it blows the ktm out of the water but it gets my vote.

Point is if you shop around you can find both bikes for about the same price. Idk about the new 250sx, well have to wait and see.

Haven't run anything but Bel-Ray 50:1 in any of my 2 strokes (80's,125's, 250's) since the 80's. Never had an issue.

Anyone know FOR SURE, if the EXC 500/ 350 bikes will get the new bodywork/ frames ?

That's Ontario, far as I'm concerned that isn't comparable at all. For some reason those are the numbers I get here in central Alberta.

Not arguing with you man. I'd love a KTM but I can't justify it, for some people the $1.5-2k is doable but for me that's the difference between a new bike or another year on old one.

Granted AB economy has tanked so I will be very interested in what I can get come fall 2016.

And you can't compare the prices between US + CAN either. I'm just comparing the spread between 2016 M/Y YZ250 and 250SX

Anyone else notice the claimed weight on the 250xc is lighter than the 250sx? Something seems off about that.
I talked to someone from KTM today and the weights are wrong-the XC is ~5lbs more than the SX.

I'm guessing there will not be much wiggle room on the '17 250sx. I was in the market for a '16 150sx a few weeks ago. I could only find 3 within a 3 hour radius of me, and none of the dealers wanted to budge. I do not have much leverage as I would be financing. So I figured I'll save up through the summer and buy a '17 150sx cash....and in theory get some kind of deal.

I've heard from some that the financing companies will give the dealers some good incentives to finance customers over cash. The guys who pay for cash give the least to the dealer compared to the guys financing over a year or however long they do it.
