What does Kawasaki call it? As far as I know this is the first "traction control" not just "launch control" but maybe I haven't been paying enough attention.
I can't remember what they called it in the press materials when I was at the launch, but they added it in 2015. As I mentioned before, it works off RPM spikes and can cut the power by up to... 7% I believe it was? I had just ridden the 14 model the day before so it was actually a bit noticeable. It made it a bit easier to control rear slides exiting corners that didn't have solid ruts... Just took a lil less throttle modulation to work the bike.

I hope these rpm spike sensors don't affect panic rev or I'm going to endo a lot more. Smile

The only husky dealer here has the bike listed for 9800, I can get an rmz for 7k.

That isn't really Husky/KTM's fault though is it? The fact is that Husky/KTM dealers sell for a premium over the bikes msrp because they know people will pay it. Suzuki dealers have to discount off of the msrp because they aren't moving enough at full asking price.

I do get what you are saying but you can't really blame Husky for it.
Oh I get the reasoning behind it, but you'd really have to want a husky to pay 10k for a bone stock 250f.

I'm curious about the 250 2-smoke. I know it says 'reduced vibration', but dang.. the last generation models would shake your fillings out!!

I want a new 300XC, but not sure about switching to the Husky version.

Everything I have is either orange or has a KTM sticker on it....
I'd be happy to go with a Husky TC250 if I knew it had everything that the 17 KTM will have.

I'm not 100% sure of this but i think Keefer said that the 2017 KTMs would get introduced in the upcoming weeks? So i don't think you'll have to wait months for the 2017 SX 250.

I love KTMs launch control, it really works awesome. Hold it wide open and dump the clutch, hooks up and goes straight. But probably because I just normally suck, but then Dungey must suck also. Pretty sure every team is using some form of launch control.

Thanks for the free development work Digger lol
Glad to be of service :-) The bikes look awesome and it's about time they went to a 38 carb and 14X50 gearing. I figured these things out in the summer of 12 when I got my 13 250SX.

Teams have had some forms of launch control for a while. The mid-90's 250 2t teams were using a timing retard activated by a button on the bike that was cancelled upon the 2nd-3rd shift.

Sort of bummed they're still using ktm as the platform for their products. I was hoping they would have a total different engine by now.
In the next couple of years you'll see Husky really go in it's own direction. It takes time and market share to cover the expense of development. The quickest way to do that was to start with a known decent platform. It's coming. Be patient.

Shane, you gonna ditch the orange brigade for a while and join the light side on this one?

I dunno man.

Why would you first of all...

And second, how the feck do you convince the bean counters to spend double R&D for another approach when you already have the best product in the class?

Yes I know, I didn't mean it as some revalation that the teams use LC. Just that the stock LC on KTMs works very good. And even the best guys in the world use some form of it.

Any idea if the Enduro's will get the new chassis and engine updates? It looks like KTM is sticking with PDS on their's which is a non-starter for MX.

I'm sure they will, if they don't this year, it'll be the next, they've had a pattern of 1 year behind for MX, 2 for Enduro... and their offroad bikes have had linkage.

If I ever get to ride again, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it. Never imagined myself considering a Husky. But they've come a long way. And despite being based on the KTM, ergonomically they feel entirely different. I can't say I wouldn't. Especially if they did a FE version.

Unfortunately for me, no riding this year. My leg isn't strong enough muscular wise. I'd be a twist in a rut away from all kinds of damage that I wouldn't go back to work from. As I've gotten older, I've had to look at the bigger picture unfortunately.

So yeah if you could go ahead and sell that stupid 4-stroke and buy a 17 250 2-stroke a couple months before I buy one...That would be greeaatttttt

Also. some dudes on KTMTalk pointed out this verbiage in the press literature for the TX300 (300XC)...Marketing hype?

http://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/us/off-road/cross-country/tx-300/

"The TX 300 features a 38mm flat slide Mikuni TMX carburettor. This carburettor provides a smooth and controllable power delivery with optimal performance over the entire RPM range. Additionally, the carburettor has minimal sensitivity to changes in temperature and altitude which reduces the need for setting changes in different conditions."

The 300 is claimed at only 217 lbs with both electric start and a backup kicker! I do notice that they list the hp for all of the bikes except for the 250 & 300 2 strokes. Will be interesting to see what type of gains they have made with the new engine design.
