I bought this 03 for $600 and put in another $800-900 in parts. (Rebuild, Tusk wheels and 09 forks and rear shock) . Love the bike now
I know where your're going with this, but I may be one of the few that never ran a big bore in the 125 class. All the rumors of factory teams and Pro-Circuit doing it, but that fat holeshot in my avatar is on a legit 125.
2003 YZ250
First owner owned the bike a few years and rode it less then 10 times. Second owner bought the bike and rode it maybe 20 times in a few years. Then in late 2007 tragic life circumstances left the second owner unable to ride motorcycles. Thinking he may be able to ride again in the future the second owner placed the bike in stable storage with his classic car collection. There the bike sat in the dark for close to 8 years untouched under blankest and leaning against a classic muscle car. In spring of 2016 the second owner faced the fact that he may never ride a dirt bike ever again, decided to sell and placed a craigslist ad. Third owner (that is me) swooped in like a hawk screaming out of the sky after a rabbit napping in the shade.
Here is what I found: An essentially all original dirt bike right down to the tires, tubes and the air that was pumped into them when they rolled off the showroom floor. Silencer was swapped for a spark arrestor everything else looks OEM. Overall the bike is in excellent condition. It needs basic maintenance and a heat gun to straighten out the left side panel that curved under from leaning against a muscle car for 8 years straight.
When I showed up to get the bike it was literally wrapped in blankets and further buried under boxes that had been stacking up over the years. It took 15 minutes to dig it out, clear a path and roll it into the sun.
A craigslist gem like so many wish for, yet few will acquire. Mine now suckas! Hahahahaha!

2004 YZ125 - picked up for $1200 bucks
First thing I did was eBay a set of KYB SSS forks off an 07 YZ250f. Sent those to Race Tech to set it up for the new bike and my weight and such. Rode it a bit after that and blew the engine after 10 hours. I just, put in a fresh crank and top end ,in it after that. it's got 2 hours on those right now. I'll send it to Eric Gorr for a 144 next once I'm in need of another top end.
Suspension + Engine + Initial Cost I'm sunk in it about $2500.
Pit Row
2004 Power Valve Govenor Spring and 2004 Rear M/C and Caliper. Race Tech Gold Valves & Springs. Nothing too crazy.
2005 Al frame here. Next mods are wheels, clutch cover, pipe, then suspension, probably race tech gold valves. For the plastics I went with the UFO restyle and love it. Had my graphics done to look stock like but have a few more twists to sorta look like a factory team would run without all the sponsors. Kinda hard to see but almost all my small parts are tusk ano blue. Wayyyy creeper then works connection on rmatvmx.
Premix- is your seat cover custom?
The bike looks awesome.
