So does the C to B advancement go out the door?
If I had a kid who raced C and was bumped to B, I'd just say F#@$ it, and run C all year.
LMAO!!

IF this is a true statement.....
Then when anyone wants to we will just choose what day of the month or year we plan to follow the rules. Just because there is a new point system for 2008 doesn't make it "better " then 2007, it's just different and not proven.
Rules are there, he does not have the authority to NOT enforce the rules, he does and looks to have just not provided a list. the ONLY way a rider can be NOT ADVANCED to A, is BY APPEAL. SO if results show a rider has the average, that rider can be protested and see what happens. Not a nice way to make rules be enforced but I bet we see it before the season is over. As someone said, it's not fair at all to the riders who are being moved from C. It's an ongoing battle which has to be done.

Your feeling sorry for the wrong group of kids IMHO. The ones you mentioned are PROFESSIONALS already. I personally watched Barcia hang with a top 5 A rider from last yr's LL. I am in no way bagging on any of these kids, but they are every bit as polished and fast as any 2yr B rider right now and are contenders for titles.
It shouldnt be about tenure. It should simply be about speed. If your fast enough, you should move up, plain and simple. The OEMS created this monster and until they decide to fix it, nothing is going to change. Its not about the riders best interest, its about marketing titles.
Exactly rocrac. The only tracks my friends and I race at in Indiana nowadays are Podium 1 and Motoland. I ride or race at Wildcat Creek MX quite a bit just because its 15 minutes away. Its sad but there its not hard to have a private track as good or better than many of the public tracks in Indiana. Me and many other Indiana riders would rather drive 3-5 hours to Michigan (Red Bud, Log Road, Baja, Dutch) or all the way to southern Indiana to Podium 1 to practice or race. Or even go to Illinois (Mt. Carroll, Joliet, South Fork) etc. D15 needs way better management and to put a certain promoter in its place because they consistently have races on poorly maintained tracks which sucks because no one wants to go to this promoters' tracks and they take just enough riders away from other good promoters that no one prospers.[/quote:2e4d5zgc]
South Fork? how often you go there? My house is less than 30 miles from there...

So, what is to say that he doesn't says, "Oh, you cannot protest a rider by his points?" I was told by an AMA ref a few weeks ago that he wasn't going to accept protests on that matter, everyone just had to wait for "the list."
Wish I thought of that one!
[quote:2gwvt1mi]It sickens me to write that $39 check every year to the AMA. I am a hypocrite for doing it, but there are some really great track owners locally that are AMA sanctioned and I do not want to punish them for the shortcomings of the parent organization.[/quote:2gwvt1mi]
I agree Alphy! We'd better offing tossing two twenties in the fire every year.
[quote:2gwvt1mi]This whole thing depresses me[/quote:2gwvt1mi]
Amen, amen, amen
Do you think someone other than the "new vision" made this call??
It's pretty sad when you go to a local race and they're are 30 kids on the line in the B class and 3 A riders. I think enforcing the rules a little better would even out the playing field and make for bigger purses for the A riders who can barley get the 5 riders they need to get paid from the OEMs.

Sorry wardy another body blow to the AMA.
Pit Row
I see the C-B list, are those riders being moved for sure?
I am trying to look out for our local riders.
However, I just opened the list and see a rider on the list that raced "C" class at Whitney. So ... guess the c-b aren't being moved?
And yes.. this "C" rider finished... 1st in one class, 4th and 5th in his other classes.
We have a LL qualifier this weekend, will he be moved to "B" at this race? Will he be D'qd from Whitney?
What if riders use the PROTEST route? Stating such and such rider is inelgible according to the rulebook?
Just wanted to clarify. My rants, etc... are not aimed towards you, or any of the others who have worked so hard for the "cause"!
I, for one, appreciate your efforts and the fact you're so forthcoming with info to us here at MD.
I'm sure it's frustrating as hell to deal with some of these folks!

My understanding is the C to B advancements suppose to be followed, and have been sent to all local districts by the AMA. In Minnesota, all C to B riders have been advanced.
As we all know, the C class can't get OEM support so there shouldn't be any issues with those advancements--right???
The protests should abound if anyone see's a rider in the C class that has been advanced to B, especially if he is dominating the C class.
I don't take it personally about the AmA stuff, I still for what reason i dont' know believe AmA can be a good organization but some of these issues are just nuts.
I think for as much work as Dingman is doing, others are screwing it up in a big way. not only avancement but there are other issues that are pretty big also.
anyone know who they replaced jeff smith with on the board? he was "our" guy in there and now that is over so i am really concerned how this board is going to be. The only ones who listened to memebership are now gone..........
This is where I picked up on a rider that I know of that just got back winning the "C" class, even though he's on the C-B national list.
So... I know he is racing this weekend also at the qualifier here. Will he be moved for this race? Will he be D'qd for Whitney?
I should mention... we don't have a district here. Well, it is a district, but a non existant one.
[quote:2qqy5bui]Ryan Holliday said the rules will be enforced next year when they make the proper changes. This year they would have to move up way to many kids that race AMA events weekly to the A class and he said the majority are just not ready.[/quote:2qqy5bui]
Like I said elsewhere, if I had a kid in C who was bumped, how can they enforce that advancement, when the same criteria is involved, and not being used in B to A?
Is Holliday going to rule who and who is not "ready" for advancement in C, or is it simply not an issue unless you're a Team Green, Factory Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki or KTM "Pro" B rider?
I already know of one that wants to protest a B rider as ineligible according to how the 2008 rules are written. Should be interesting to see what happens.
If Little Jimmy signed up and raced last weekend in A because either
A) He was told to
Can he now move back to B after already racing in A class that one time?
Can he be protested for having competed in an A class?
But I doubt very seriously, that if the AMA has an A to B list, it will never see the light of day.
Good point. It's going to get interesting, isn't it!
